Activate is a feature-rich digital insurance product consisting of motor, buildings, contents and all-risk cover. The product promises safety, convenience and rewards for driving well. Safety - A free tracking /telematics device is fitted in all your vehicles insured with Activate. - The tracking device is packaged with stolen vehicle recovery services, which is already included in the monthly premium. - Your telematics device will measure how your vehicle is driven (e.g. speeding, late-night driving, harsh braking and cornering, etc.). An actuarial algorithm then scores your driving behaviour and allocates the cash back. Not recording trips
I had installed the telematic device and the app approx month ago. Until this moment no single trip is recorded. Phoned the Activate by ABSA call center- they said the IT department will fix it in 48 hours. Unfortunately nothing was fixed and I phoned again- now they cannot tell me when it is going to be fixed and that IT department is investigating. Yet in my insurance policy is stated that I need to have a working telematic device within 14 days after my policy is active otherwise it will be invalid.. Not sure what to do..should probably look of another insurance..
Not working
I have 2 insured vehicles on this app and I drive to work every single day, including weekends, the last recorded movement on my car(s) was on the 31st of December but I have driven everyday
App Not Responsive
I’m a new client and have not been able to move past the “Something went wrong. Please try again.” error each time I open the app. Might just cancel my insurance with Absa as a precautionary measure.
NOTHING IS AS IT SEEMS!
The app doesn’t function the way it’s intended to… 1. The policy documents on the app are old and oudated! - When you call to have the doc sent, the line is always busy! The email response is looong! 2. The feature to update your policy ( ie, address, and others) is there but not functional! 3. The app is always tracking your movements on the phone for reasons that make 0% sense! I’m not happy with it and their service hence I’m leaving the insurance.

I’m struggling to see my policies always says error and can’t see my trips on the app tried to call the call centre and writing an email but no assistance.
It’s a good one
This app for me is doing great , yes the road is made of potholes and driving smoothly can be affected but ey you must know your way around these roads… and the little weather notification I get now and again quite helpful. Am happy with the cash backs I receive as well 😊😊
