The app for PWS owners and 'Weather Underground' contributors, exclusively for iOS and WatchOS! You own a weather station that submits measurement data to Wunderground.com (WeatherUnderground)? You want to get a quick overview, as well as detailed diagrams with the readings of your weather station and those of more than 250,000 other weather stations of the Wunderground network? Then myPWS is exactly the right app for you! All you need is: your personal API key, which will be created in your personal account on Wunderground.com for you to retrieve. Once you've configured access to Wunderground.com for myPWS by entering your API key, myPWS will let you view the latest readings from your weather station, as well as any other weather station registered on Wunderground.com. You can use an area map to search for near or far weather stations all over the world and have them displayed for detailed diagrams and current readings. myPWS offers you extensive diagrams with the • measured values of the current and the previous day • the last 7 days (per hour / per day) • any day in the past* • monthly data* • yearly data* • data of two PWS in one single comparison chart* • combined data of one PWS in a single chart* • wind direction chart* Up to two different types of data can be displayed together in a diagram, e.g. to look at temperature and air pressure together in one graph. Furthermore you can • cache and export data via iCloud our email to your other devices on which you also use myPWS*. This saves data API calls which are limited to 1,500 per day through Wunderground.com via your API key • add more than two stations to your station list* • export diagram data via CSV, PDF or as graphics* • email - export raw measurement data as provided by Underground Please note: myPWS requires a Wunderground.com account and a PWS (Personal Weather Station) registered in your account. By registering a PWS you will receive an API key which is needed for the retrieval of data from the Wunderground network by myPWS. The access to PWS measurement data via the Wunderground data server depends on the availability of the WU infrastructure and the WU API services, which are not under the control of the manufacturers of the myPWS app. * Available as a one-time In App purchase
Potential Security Issues - Fixed
After my 1 star rating - I removed my old review and updated to 4 after the developer fixed the problem with Norton Security flagging a security issue. The app works - the add on features are pricy but it does push the weather from my local pws to my watch. If you look at Carrot Weather and what they charge perhaps it’s a bargain. Anyway I have been using the app for years - and it does what it says.
AVOID !!!
Paid full price for all features, but the app continually asked for payment if the app is closed and reopened . Contacted app owner for support providing a screenshot; app owner just arrogantly replies with a link to a non applicable FAQ, couldn’t take the time to talk to a paid customer I guess. I complained to the app owner about the lack of paid support to fix a technical problem with their app, requested a refund, and then received a snarky and unprofessional response in return. Good riddance, the cost of the premium features are overpriced for the value provided, and all they do is charge you for formatting your OWN data that they siphon from the WU. If you do purchase don’t expect any support in return.
Potential Security Issues
App gives warnings with Norton Web and Antivirus software and red flags it as a security risk after the last update. Reached out to developer and gave them the data and they claim nothing is wrong with their API. When checking error message using a malicious link checker with the error message the malicious link website shows a problem with the api. Should I believe the developer or Norton? Should I believe the malicious link checker? I loved having my pws on my watch but I am not willing to risk my security for a weather report on my watch. I can pull local weather- it just won’t be from my PWS on my watch. There is plenty of apps that pull the data from my PWS on my iPhone. I will keep the app around and check it from time to time to see if the developer decides to deal with the issue.
Awesome data visualization capabilities
I have literally dozens of weather apps - very few warrant purchase of features, and fewer still also find a place on my hope screen, but myPWS does. It transforms WU data from my Tempest weather station from functional to fantastic. Highly recommended for any PWS owner who has their station linked to Weather Underground!
Great app
Just found this as I have an WS2000 love the station and this app goes well with it
Wonderful App
This app is great at retrieving and displaying the data from your weather station. It is well organized, easy to read, and looks great. For some reason, WeatherUnderground does not show my station in their search results (even though it is connected and sending data). Thankfully this app never fails to quickly retrieve and display my data. After using it for just 10 minutes, I moved it right on my first screen of apps. Thanks for a great app.
Data loss
What happened to all the data for the last 7 years that I already had downloaded? It’s all seems to have vanished. I already had the months downloaded what happened? Who would want to download 84 months worth of information again?
Performance optimizations, updated components, minor fixes and a few adoptions to iOS 17.
