Tembo is based upon the Spotlight index and engine. Tembo can find any file indexed by Spotlight. This includes files in the Library folders, but excludes low level system files.
Good product but the developer has better
While I like Tembo this developer makes a better search product called HoudahSpot. HoudahSpot is more powerful and gets updates on a more regular schedule. You won’t find it on the app store but I encourage you to hunt it down. Version 4 is especially good. Tembo needs to have features like the Finder’s search tokens to be more powerful. More view options would also be good. Unfortunantly version 2 doesn’t add these features either.

I rated it only 3 stars as I would like the option to “delete” a file from the app once I locate it and so far have not found an option to do that.

I'm a photographer and I deal with thousands of pictures at a time. I often just need to find an image that I've worked on in the last few days and it could be a jpg, CR2, or png and I just want to click image created since yesterday. As it is, I need to type in .jpg or .png because I certainly don't have the name of the file on hand. This was one of the reasons I don't love spotlight all though once you've typed in a string in spotlight and done search modifiers, you can delete the text to widen your search. If this were fixed, this could easily be my go to app for searching.

I really wish Apple would buy this software and make it spotlight. So often I try to find a file in spotlight, can't, and use Tembo to find it. Perhaps I'm just not smart enough to get spotlight to find something, but the Tembo elephant seems to have no problem. If you hate spotlight, but love finding stuff on your Mac, Tembo is a good investment.

I hope they add the ability to have the application sit in the menu bar so you don't always have to open it. Also saved searches would be nice.

Well worth the money. Simpler (in a good way) than Spotlight... with many features, which though Spotlight is also capable of searching... Spotlight makes much more difficult and time consuming to accomplish. (Example... with one click you can choose one of the following: Any Date, Today, Since Yesterday,This Week, This Month, or This Year There are so many easier ways to find what you are looking for than Spotlight, it would take too long for me to describe. Much faster than EasyFind. Does content searches that Find-Any-File can not. Overall... the best I have found so far. I am a professional and work with an enormous number of files... this is a great time saver. I assure you... you will love this app!
