The Symbolic Linker is a handy tool for creating symbolic links (soft links). The big cloud storage services — Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and others - all have the same problem: they can only synchronize folders inside the cloud storage folder. However, you want to synchronize other folders like ~/Desktop, ~/Documents that can't be moved into the cloud storage folder. Fortunately, there’s a way around this limitation: symbolic links. By creating symbolic links to folders that can't be moved, then moving the symbolic links into the cloud storage folder, you're able to sync any folder. The Symbolic Linker supports creating symbolic links for single and multiple files/directories via: - Dragging the target files/directories and export the corresponding symbolic links. - From macOS Mojave and above, right click on files/directories, under "Quick Actions", select "Make Symbolic Link". No more hassle of typing command lines.
Good
Shame it only works with absolute path, would be great if it can detect volume and create relative paths from there.
would give no stars if possible
it did not do what it said it would do. i would like a refund of $2.15.
The handy app must to have!
This app uses drag and drop to make it very intuitive to create a symlink. I used to use terminal command to create symlinks but always afriad to make mistakes by typing commands. Love the GUI interface complete my task! Thanks Developer!
Deceptive Marketing
The app lists dropbox as a service the supports symbolic links, so I bought the app. It didn't work, so I did some digging and sure enough, Dropbox says in their own support pages that symbolic links are not supported. boo. I want my money back.
Doesn't work with Files app in iOS 13
I was really excited to use this and trust it worked for others, but the symbolic links this app creates are displayed as broken file icons (not folders) in iOS 13. Unfortunately until this is fixed the app is useless.
Awesome App!
So not only is this a tme saver insead of using termial to create my syminks, it just works! I have even gone and renamed the symlinks after crating them and they still work. For such a little function this helper program rocks, and saves me a ton of time on dev projects! The only thing it is missing is being able to take a group of folders, or items, all at once and create symlinks for each one. That one little feature of being able to do folders in builk would make this prgra a 6 star app instead of 5 stars :)
Works as described
I am using Mohave 10.4. I have used Terminal to create symbolic links. Every time it makes me nervous. This program is intuitive and works well. It labels the alias with the original name plus "symlink." I suspect you can change the alias to whatever name you want, but I kind of like the addition. The icon is the usual alias icon.
