PCalc is the powerful choice for scientists, engineers, students, programmers, or indeed anybody looking for a feature rich calculator. It includes an optional RPN mode and multi-line display, a choice of button layouts, an extensive set of unit conversions and constants, a paper tape, multiple undo and redo, engineering and scientific notation, as well as support for hexadecimal, octal, and binary calculations.
A real, serious, RPN calculator
I love PCalc for its rigour, thoroughness, and most of all, RPN! The list of features is remarkable. It's the iTerm2 of calculators.
Everything needed for a Calculator on Mac
Apple, this is what the Mac Calculator should be. Take notes. Also, people, this isn't a Texas instrument. Not even close, so don't get upset witht the app. This calculator is perfect.
Good but lacking programmer tools
As a general-purpose calculator its excellent, though the units conversion system takes some getting used to. Overall the best on the market. Just shy of 5 stars!
Good but lacking programmer tools
As a general-purpose calculator its excellent, but its let down by a few poo features. First, unit conversions are a mess, using a cumbersome cadcading menu system. Second, there is (or at least appears to be) no programmer mode to handle things like hexdecimal numbers and bitwise operators. Given the scope of the other functions in the app, this ommision seems odd.
Powerful and Customizable
Yes, this is probably the best calculator app for MacOS, especially for a science/math based person, I don’t think there is any disputing this. PCalc has got everything you will ever need in a calculator, its very powerful, and it runs very fast and smooth. The depth of customizability on so many levels is really impressive. Amazing calculator that I use everday.
It Really is the Best Calculator
I was a little apprehensive about paying $10 for a calculator app, but I couldn't find another decent one so I went for it. I couldn't be happier; it's powerful, customizable, and easy to use. Within a minute of installing I had a layout I liked and the ticker tape I needed. The quick-access menubar widget was an unexpected bonus and is so useful I rarely need to open the actual calculator app. It's everything you could ask for in a calculator and then some.
Garbage
The functionality is limited. It's very poor if you want to input equations and such (like you can on a TI-80 series or desmos).
Improved the appearance of the app. Added menu commands for copying and pasting numbers with U.S. formatting. Added menu commands for copying and clearing the tape. Added a new digit style, "Matrix". Changed the display of numbers between 0.1 and 1.0 to be more consistent in Engineering mode. You can now set images for the categories of custom functions, conversions, and constants. iCloud syncing of user data is now switched on again by default if you are running macOS 12.4 or later. Fixed a problem with operator button selection being lost. Fixed a problem with Shortcuts always opening the app. Fixed a problem with the conversion actions in Shortcuts when set to "Ask each time".
