Friction to initiate
It's amazing how difficult it is to make it easy to start a recording on the mac. I tried so many ways to automate accessing the file menu to record upon keystroke, but something always got in the way. Of course, no default option for this, which I would assume is the most important thing people are looking for in an app like this. Do one thing and start recording. Fine on the watch. But it's not the case on the mac. Wasted my money here.
Cool app
I record on my watch, phone, MacBook, all my recordings appear on the other devices immediately. I am bilingual and I record in different languages and the text is always right on. Excellent app for quick notes while I'm driving or in any other situation
Streamlined Transcriber 😎
What I see is a pared-down application to do basically two things: record and transcribe. It does these things together very quick, conveniently, and very well. Other reviewers are hyping about it not having features, but I like that! I think that was how the developer intended it to be. For other more pro like apps, there are many other options :). I have been looking for something like it for a looong time and am very happy that it is here!
It's a Good App but...
It's a good app, because it does what it's supposed to without bell and whistles. I appreciate it's simplicity. The flat fee pricing is fair without the monthly installments. I'd give it five stars if it had the iOS text Highlighting feature and transcription indexing. I like how it'll transcribe any outside audio format not originated in the App i.e., mp4, wav, etc. That's helpful. For the wish list: 1. Having the capability to edit text while it's transcribing would be awesome. 2. Indexing of the recordings wouild be cool like the iOS version. 3. Like mentioned above, the highlighting of the trascription where the audio meets the playback like the iOS version would be kill'a. Thanks guys for making the app available :)
Stop! This app is heartburn in a can
The iOS and Watch app work together very well - record on the watch, the file is there on the phone via iCloud. I bought this app so the file would be delivered to my Mac desktop as well without me having to manually AirDrop it. Problem is, for some reason which I can't figure out, the files do not push from the iPhone to the desktop. I got it to work once after restarting the Mac - Lo and behold, there were the files - but since then it's a no go. Everything else I have syncing trough iCloud works a treat - but this app does not.
Game changer
Don't let the average overall rating deter you. The negative reviews are years old and have since been addressed. This app has saved so many passing thoughts that would have otherwise been forgotten among whatever other task was priority at the time. I love that I can plainly record what I'm thinking as it occurs to me from a button on my watch screen, then later I can sit down at my computer and review the transcription and audio to parse out the meaningful phrases and assemble them into a cohesive concept.
High quality voice recordings, lacking in productivity features
I have used Just Press Record for a few years on my phone and watch. It's a MUCH better voice recording quality compared to apple's default app for my choir needs. A win there. I was hoping though to use the app on my watch in my preschool classroom for easy note taking. I liked that it transcribed notes I took on my watch so beautifully on my phone. However, the productivity pretty much ends there. I just bought the mac app thinking I would be able to use my watch to take dictaton and then get on my mac to copy and paste transcripts into my notes on my teacher documentation charts. First problem: there is no manual sync feature, so I can't sync prevously taken recordings on my watch/phone after switcing to icloud storage from in app storage. Secondly, when I open a file on my mac from finder, it opens in apple music first. And in the app, I have to go to the menu bar and then open to find the in app finder. I want a similar interface on the mac that I see on iphone where I can see the record button and a list of my previous recordings all together and I can jump from note to note quickly to copy transcription, rename file, etc. I dream of the day I find an app that I can dicate a note on my watch and it ends up beautifully in a transcribed note on my macbook. Today is not it, but maybe this app could get there one day. In the meantime, I wasted $5 of my money.
