Free = Bad
Looking for a ZIP utility on MAC that I can encrypt ZIPs with. This is not it. What does this app do besides what already exists on a Mac OS? IDK
Literally Useless
The description says it can manage TAR files, which is only half-true. It can unarchive TAR files, but so can literally every other unarchiver in the App Store. It cannot CREATE TAR files (only .zip files), which is literally the whole reason I downloaded it. Don't waste your time.
Password protection, encryption levels not working
I am running Catalina 10.15.6, and there is no option to choose a level of encryption, and no option for password protection -- which was why I opted to download the app, to get password protection for my zip files.
BEWARE
Was not able to open after password protecting. Just get an error message.
Has issues
I installed this to compress files. For some reason, the program zips just fine but on the recieving end Windows users are unable to open. ON their end it appears they can open the folder but cannot open the files in it. I am not sure. Since I work on a MacBook Pro (older 2010 version) and do not use Windows, I cannot vouch for the reason it could not be extracted but the person tried multiple ways and was unable to do so. Therefore, I un-installed this and won’t be using it. If you are simply unzipping maybe it is fine. However, compressing and sending apparently has an issue.
well, the spinny spinner works...
A 7z archive I can view with 7zfm on windows in a fraction of a second is still spinning and spinning in iZip after 10 minutes. Even with 7z command line utility I can list all the contents very quickly. What is the problem? I can’t say I’ve seen any compatibility with 7z files.
Not able to edit ZIP
It’s good extracting and creating ZIP files because it supports drag & drop. You can extract individual files from a ZIP file without extracting the whole thing. However, you cannot modify any ZIP archive. They always appear as read-only. It can only create ZIP files (same as built-in MacOS “compress” option), but it cannot create .7z files (for example), only extractions is available.
