No Max Address

I setup my devices by MAC address as well as ip address. This gives you no MAC addresses while the iMac version does.not worth it

Great way to see your home network

INet scanner is fast and returns a list of IPs on your network. This is very useful when I need to know the address of a device (printer, Raspberry Pi, etc.) that I want to connect. The MAC address is hidden by Apple from all iPadOS apps (including INet scanner), so if you need that info, best to use the MacOS version of the program. On the iPad, I can quickly connect to a service on the network, like SSH to rPi, or a device that has a web interface. Easy to ping a device that you know should be responsive to help determine if there is an issue. This is a great utility!

Do Not Purchase

It doesn’t do what it states. Sent message via the app support email and did not receive a reply. Go outside, talk to yourself and then light a twenty dollar bill on fire. Just as productive it seems.

DON’T PURCHASE

This app does’ t give you any information on anything it scans, no MAC address, it only tells you it pinged something, sometimes it will give you a host name. I’m requesting a refund.

Unusable in portrait mode

Take a look at the screenshots. Notice anything? None of them are in portrait mode. That’s right, if you want to use this app you have to disable the orientation lock, because it’s barely usable otherwise. When in portrait mode there are huge portions of the interface that simply cannot be accessed on the right side of the screen. New bug? Hardly. It’s been this way for at least two years, I believe after they did a major UI facelift. I emailed them twice but no one could be bothered to respond.

WOL Problem

WOL will not accept a MAC address input based on what Windows shows the MAC address to be. INet calls it an invalid MAC address but I am clearly looking at the MAC address on the PC in question. INet did not “see” the device based on its IP address. I had to input manually the IP address shown by Windows to register the device in the list maintained by INet. INet accepted that IP address and properly showed the device status online or offline. What is preventing me from entering the MAC address manually and having INet recognize it as valid?

Portrait Mode Is Broken, No Response From Support

For months now portrait mode has been broken. I sent an email to support but never heard back from them. If you don’t intend to make the app work right in portrait mode at least force it into landscape (my iPad is locked in portrait and unlocking it just to use this app is annoying). Old review is below. Nice to see many of my requests have actually been addressed since then. —— I’ve been an avid user of SubnetInsight since getting my first iOS device in 2011. However, given the changes made in iOS 11, it is completely unusable now. The developer has pulled it from the App Store and no replacement has been offered. iNet Pro is a decent substitute, but its developer should check out SubnetInsight on a pre-iOS 11 device and take some cues from it. Here are my qualms with the app, which is otherwise pretty good and functions as expected. 1) The price is a bit steep. That would not be so bad if iNet Pro was a universal app. As it stands, I ended up purchasing it twice for both my iPad and iPhone, basically raising its cost to $12.99. 2) I realize that the limitations of iOS 11 make certain features hard to implement, and that the ability to remember and customize each device’s name was scrapped because of this change. Nevertheless, many people have devices on their networks that are assigned static IP address, and an option to assign a specific name to them according to IP (not MAC address) would be quite useful. This is not extremely troublesome for me, as I run my own DNS servers, which iNet Pro uses to resolve IP addresses. However, it ignores name resolution when a device broadcasts its hostname over Bonjour or NetBios, which is annoying. 3) The ability to see offline devices would be appreciated, as I’d like to know when they were last online. SubnetInsight was capable of remembering wifi networks, as well as the hosts that were connected to them. In addition, it provided geolocation data for each access point. This is a feature I miss. Again, I realize that changes in iOS 11 make implementing this gracefully somewhat difficult, but an “advanced” toggle of sorts could be provided. 4) I wish iNet Pro would simply scan a device for open ports automatically when I tap on one. Or perhaps do so in the background after a network scan is completed. 5) The integration of WOL is nice, and allowed me to delete your other app, iNet WOL. Indeed, the special keyboard made entering addresses much less painful. However, syncing WOL data via iCloud would alleviate the need for me to enter this information on multiple devices. Overall, I do not regret the purchase and am a happy customer. I even decided to check out the macOS version, which is free from all of the issues mentioned in bullet #2 above. If you’re looking for network scanner, I think iNet Pro is the best currently available for iOS 11 devices.
