Does not work at all

Well, I can’t say I wasn’t warned. Tons of one star reviews aren’t lying to you. This app is worthless. Apparently from 2016, will not allow you to to anything claimed. Waste of time, I am throwing mine in the trash now.

Nice app, easy to follow

I uploaded this app to my iPhone 12. It worked very well, no delays or any issues. I thought it is not right it is rated so low. I give 5.

Has made my iPad so much more useful/manageable

I see some negative reviews and it surprises me as this device and app have been a game-changer for me in the five ? years that I’ve used it. This app allows me to select individual folders of photos and download them to the device. Or select items from folders. It maintains the exif data pretty well (though sometimes the hour randomly increases or decreases by one for one or two photos; or other times the seconds). Apple’s built-in photo-handling constantly changes the way its own photo downloads to Window can be done. And even when they complete successfully you don’t get any of the folder structure represented in the eventual download. So for someone like me, with thousands of photos who has to stay on stop of putting them in relevant folders in order to be able to find/manage them, Apple’s built-in offering is a nightmare. I’d have to re-separate all of my photos into folders yet again on Windows, having already spent the time on the iPad. (And no, my photos aren’t going on iCloud and I additionally have no need/wish to pay for storage). The second couldn’t-do-without benefit of the app/device then is that in allowing me to selectively save folders, it also therefore frees me up to be able to delete those photos from the iPad and make more room. Again, with Apple’s own system, even if I have selected photos that I’m ready to no longer have on the iPad I have no non-laborious way to download those select (say several hundred or thousand) photos to Windows first. Additionally and just as useful, is the ability to store .pdfs and other records (either into the app on the iPad, or directly to the device). Honestly the iPad would be pretty useless to me without these two abilities. But this morning I went to save a .pdf from Safari and for the first time iExpand didn’t list on the save-to options. The app hasn’t updated in a year, so this must be a change at Apple’s end? Is Apple deliberately crippling this app, or has it discovered a security flaw or similar in it? There’s no way I can see to find out more, or try to remedy the situation. I’ll try on a couple of other devices later and see if the same problem occurs. And if it doesn’t resolve I’ll save my in-app .pdfs etc off the device and try to delete/reload the app. If there’s no resolution it will be the turning point for me and Apple devices because I’ve already got so many frustrations with them. iExpand let me work around most of them - if it’s functionality goes then when I eventually replace my iPad this year it’ll be with a non-Apple product. [Also that occasional exif data issue - I have a workable but labourious workaround. For the photos that a timestamp is critical on I do a standard Apple download (so thousands of non-folder-sorted photos) - this usually has the correct exif info (exception being if I’ve moved/Airdropped a photo from one Apple device to another - some of the original creation info etc seems to get lost by Apple). Then I copy the photos I want from the iPad to iExpand and from there copy to their own folder on Windows. Then I can run a duplicate file finder, or file/folder matching software and check that every photo copied from iExpand to Windows matches its corresponding photo in the mass Apple download. If they all match, I’m set. If they don’t I can see which ones they are, and compare the exif data and edit it back to match the ones in the Apple download. It’s usually very few. Irritating that it happens, don’t really understand what the problem is. But for the ability to get my pre-sorted photos onto my desktop with the oh-so-important exif data preserved as opposed to my two alternatives - a bunch of unsorted files, or files with incorrect creation exif data (when I’ve tried Airdropping select folders from one Apple device to another without pre-existing photos on it in order to try and find a way to get just one folder downloaded) it’s worth it to me]. Note I haven’t tried the other usb/lightning devices as I spent the money on this. But as I say, if I end up having to spend more money because of this I’m not putting it into further devices that trap me on Apple, I’ll take it as a lesson learned and jump ship rather than throw more good money after bad.

DEVICE STORAGE???

When I attempt to transfer from device storage to external storage, there is nothing shown for me to transfer! Im able to transfer contacts and pictures without issue. Am I missing something or is there a setting I don’t have in place properly? Sooooo frustrating because I bought the device thats automatically linked to this app specifically to transfer audio files & this particular memory expander was supposed to be able to do this. Is there another app I could possibly use to interface with my drive? I see there are several reviews here indicating users dissatisfaction but I don’t see even one response posted from the developer . Will someone please demonstrate that the reviews you solicit & which are in place to provide you with what should be valued feedback are actually reviewed & considered worthy of an appropriate response?!? I’d be quite surprised but very grateful if so. Thanks for listening? 🐸
