Encrypto is a free, easy-to-use app that lets you encrypt files with AES-256 encryption and then send them to friends or coworkers. It works on both Mac and Windows, so you can send encrypted files without worrying whether the other person can open it or not. Protect Files with AES-256 Encryption Take any file or folder and add AES-256 encryption to it. Let Encrypto give you peace of mind when it comes to the security of your files when sending them. Send Password Hints Instead of relaying a password, include a unique, embedded password hint that only the recipient would be able to decipher. Send Files Using OS X Sharing Share encrypted files via Mail, AirDrop, or Messages, or even share them with third-party apps like Dropbox. However you usually share, Encrypto has you covered. Or Save Them to Disk With Encrypto, you can encrypt your files even if you don’t need to send them. You know, for file security on your hard drive. Just put your file through Encrypto and boom — it’s protected. Encrypt and Decrypt on Both Mac and Windows Share files with friends no matter their OS. You use a Mac, your friend uses Windows — you both can encrypt and send files to each other with Encrypto.
Good, but I hope it can be improved.
It is very simple and easy to use encryption software, but there is no Chinese version and does not support touch id. If it can be improved, I can't ask for it. App payment is also available.
Not for saving passwords
I wanted to recommend this app to seniors with whom I work because they prefer to save their passwords in a spreadsheet. However it is cumbersome in the extreme to open a saved passwords document, make changes in that document, and then save those changes to the original document. The seniors got terribly confused trying to follow me as I showed them on a Zoom session, sharing screens, how to encrypt their password document, open the encrypted password document, make changes to it and then save those changes in Crypto once again. Also it is truly frightening that one other reviewer swears that when he came back to his Crypto document two weeks later, it would not accept what he positively knew to be his password for that document.
sometimes errors
sometimes when trying to open a decrypted file it will give an error that the file is damaged and wont open but the original file is fine, not sure what the issue is. does not happen all the time , but seems unreliable
Well built app
Great app for securing/encryptiing files and folders on your computer. Well done!
It works, and does so very well.
There are apps that work, and others that work really well. This is an app that is worth its weight in gold. MacPaw remains one of my favorite devs so I'm glad they put this on the MAS. Keep up the good work. PS: Lots of love and support from your friends in California.
