Blackout lets you turn off your displays with just a single click! Blackout is aware of Mission Control: If you enter Mission Control, Blackout will re-activate all turned off displays in a dimmed mode, so you can access, organize and move all open application windows. As soon as you leave Mission Control, Blackout will deactivate all turned off displays again.
Exactly what I was looking for
Sometimes I have trouble focusing on one thing, or my additional monitors are too bright. This app is perfect for what I needed. Super simple install and easy to use. I also love that I can blackout the monitor, but have a music app like Spotify in another window in Mission Control to quickly change to if needed without having to turn the blackout feature on and off. Note: This doesn't turn off monitors, it only blacks them out.
False Advertising
This doesn't disable displays, just makes them black. The description says it "Turn off external displays". That is a lie. I want my $$ back.
Perfect
I added a large 32" second monitor to my iMac. I want to be able to blank the second monitor when not in use. This app is perfect. Puts an icon at the top status line on the iMac. Click and blank the second monitor. Perfect. Best $1.99 I ever spent. As another reviewer indicated, this just blanks the monitor, it does not remove the monitor from the system. The second monitor still shows in system preferences - exactly what I want. I wouold give this app 10-stars if I could. Perfect for what it does. You want to remove a second monitor, unplug it!
Super simple
Great for just blacking out displays. Needs shortcuts though.
Does not actually disable displays
This app merely blanks out the display - it does not make it appear to be disconnected to the desktop manager, so all other aspects of the desktop layout are maintained as if nothing had happened.
