Database issue
I’ve been using this app for a while, and, for the most part, it’s fine for managing a small backyard apiary and keeping notes. And it’s inexpensive, relatively speaking. BUT, speaking as an ex-database designer, there are a couple of awful bugs in this that really need to be fixed. The worst one is that, if you you try to change the Hive a queen is associated with, you can’t do it by editing the Queen record. There’s a drop down for Hive that lets you select another hive, but when you come back in, the record shows it as Hive 1, regardless of which hive you tried to put there. I usually split by moving the queen to a new hive/nuc, so I need to change the hive she’s associated with when I do that. To add insult to injury, you can’t select a queen from the list of queens you’ve already created when you edit the Hive record either. The re-queen action only lets you create a new queen! If I’m re-queening with a queen from another hive or nuc, or one I’ve created through my own queen-rearing efforts, I can’t select it. As well, there is no contact information in the web or iPhone app, so there’s nobody to ask about fixing these bugs.

I think the web version is great. I upgraded in order to get the app. However, data does not sync (at least not correctly) between the app and the web version. The Contact link doesn’t work. I found a contact form but no one responded. I don’t think there’s anybody home anymore. Use the free version but don’t buy the app.

I agree it has much room for development but for what I need with only 100 hives it works. Keeps, track my queens, daughters, date of install, inspections and pictures. Since I am not trying to make it more complicated than it needs to be it work. If you are looking for trending, graphs, scientific comparison though Hive Track would be your best bet. But then your info is part of a networked discoverable data base.

I used this app for about 5 months and decided to go to the pro version, for inspections and things you cant do from the app unless you go pro. I used my iTunes gift card and went to authenticate with my Apple ID and password, it said checking subscriptions and then gives me a Null error, basically their code and subscription checking is broken! Oh and by the way if you go to help, the contact us button is broke, so the help button is for looks only. iTunes has been a big fat zero for help also!

First time thru the bee yard my iPad froze at the first hive. Couldn’t add first inspect... went to website, hit support, then contact and the selection does nothing. I’d take my money back too!

Like others have said doesn’t work as advertised. I don’t need something as advanced at Hive tracks and thought wis would be a cheaper alternative, but it is not. Very limited in what information you can put in about a hive in general description. I paid for pro but can’t access it on my IPad. Tried contacting on website and contact tab does nothing. Tried to cancel aromatic renew and got message “The unsubscribe button you clicked is invalid”. Was able to get papal to stop the automatic payments on their website. I guess I’ll bite the bullet and pay the $5 a month for Hive Tracks.
