Buy your tickets – as easy as 1-2-3. Ruter’s mobile app lets you buy your ticket before you get on board. The ticket is valid on the Metro, buses, trams, ferries and trains in Oslo and Akershus. Quick purchases options are based on your previous purchases and issue you a new ticket in just two easy stages. You can buy a ticket just for yourself or for a group travelling together. You can buy tickets in advance, and you can change the start time for your ticket. For additional security, you can change the fare limit for which a password is required when buying tickets. Your receipt will be sent via e-mail. RuterBillett requests access permission to the following functions: * Location/tracking: Used in connection with ticket purchases so that RuterBillett can automatically suggest a ticket based on the zone in which you are located. You can still purchase a ticket even if the location function is turned off, but you must manually enter the stop or station from which the ticket will apply. *Notifications: A push notification is used during ticket transfer in order to update a ticket's status. You can still purchase a ticket even if the notification function is turned off. *Background updates: Used at night when updating your control code and today's picture so that next day you always have the valid code and picture ready for a ticket inspection. You can still purchase a ticket even if the background update function is turned off. *Use of mobile data: Used when communicating with Ruter's systems during ticket purchases. If the app's access to mobile data is blocked, you can only buy a ticket if you have access to a wireless network (Wi-Fi). You must also have network access in order to display the control code and today's picture during a ticket inspection. If you want to block access, you can do so from your phone on RuterBillett's "Settings" page. www.ruter.no www.ruter.no/kontakt
Functions, no payment issues but critique of ticketing policy.
No issues with payment, used a US Barclays Mastercard in Apple Pay. I'm annoyed that one can no longer purchase 'billetter for ekstra soner' or 'additional zone tickets' for non-app tickets. I prefer having physical tickets in case my phone dies, however I got on the boat to Nesoddtangen and realised it wasn't covered by my existing tickets, so I purchased some in the app. This is no longer possible with these updates and now I would have to find a ticket machine to add on the supplements.
Use PayPal
It works if you use PayPal. It doesn’t have to be linked your debit card. A little one liner for tourists to try using PayPal would be helpful. Maybe in the error message.
It doesn’t accept the credit cards
Does not accept any of my Visa or MasterCards. I tried several times. So what’s the point, developers?
Won’t accept credit cards
Won’t accept credit cards not from Europe. Considering Oslo is trying to be a international city this is a pretty major flaw.
Doesn’t work
The other reviews are correct. Doesn’t work properly with ApplePay and can’t input other payment methods. Burn this app and start over please.
Did not take Pay Pal/Apple Pay/All cards
Contrary to the positive reviews below, the app did not take my pay pal, Apple Pay, and any of my cards. We ended up driving to Oslo and paying the ridiculous cost for parking.
Doesn’t work w US card, Apple Pay or Paypal
