NH Alerts is a free public safety application brought to you by the New Hampshire Department of Safety Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management as a tool to effectively alert, inform and affect lives within the State by providing the community information that could save their lives. NH Alerts delivers free emergency, community and missing person notices generated by authorized officials at the State level. The app also delivers free weather warnings from the National Weather Service to users within the direct path of severe weather. The app is geo-aware, requiring users to turn on their location services so the app may deliver notifications relevant to the user’s current location. The State asks all New Hampshire residents and anticipated visitors to New Hampshire to download this application to be informed of situations that may immediately affect the public’s safety. The New Hampshire Department of Safety Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management may send messages to residents and visitors throughout the entire state, or send messages to specific geographic areas to notify only those persons who may be immediately affected by a local emergency. Examples of emergency warnings may include lockdown notices, viral outbreaks, chemical spills, evacuations and active shooter situations. The app is completely customizable by the end user who may select the types of warnings they would like to receive in the app’s settings. NH Alerts does not collect or store any personal information and the app does not require an account to function. NH Alerts is powered by CodeRED, a community notification system used by public safety organizations across the United States and Canada. NH Alert users may also receive localized CodeRED alerts through this application as they travel outside of New Hampshire to other communities who use CodeRED. Visit ReadyNH.gov to learn more about this and other initiatives New Hampshire is using to protect residents and visitors.
A Mediocre App Going Downhill
No matter what permissions I do or don’t give, if I open the app a blue banner appears stating it’s actively using my location, and this does not go away when I exit the app or even go into other apps. The only way to turn it off is to go into settings and toggle the permissions again. Further, I can never click on the active warnings. I’ll get notifications on my lock screen and then the app tells me nothing. The active warning list won’t open, there are no icons on the map, nothing. This has become a completely useless app.
Terrible App
I can’t delete this app, stop the text messages or change my address. What good does it do me if my CodeRed messages are for an address I no longer live at?
Uses alert system to plug their personal events
I don’t think they should adulterate the alert system with personal events.
As said before Great Ideal !
Yes it would be great to have early warning or Alert of possible danger . This App has not worked once threw the last snow storm even when I93 was tied up with an accident ??
Won’t load sometimes
When I try to load alert it just goes into never never land and you can’t back out or do anything. So I try to read it but text too small By far worst app I ever have tried to use
Good, but the text is too small.
Love the app. Hate that I can’t read it since the last update. Please return the font size on the alert details to a legible size.
Six identical alerts, all in a row?
No, thank you. I just yanked your app out of my phone. If you ever fix that bug, I *might* reinstall this app.
