Louvre map
The Louvre is massive so we got this app since it has an interactive map and audio. Worked good for our needs
Byzantine user interface
You can tell some work went into this app, there’s a lot of content and apparently some features, but the UI makes it impossible to use. There’s no consistent menu structure, for example there’s no way to do a search except from one location I found once and never again. If you are lucky enough to find the search feature once, and add some favorites, you will never see that list of favorites from anywhere. Searching and viewing favorites are two functions that should always be available at all times in the app. These are easy problems to solve. If the developer just gave this app to a few people who have never seen it before and watch then fumble to get anything useful out of it they could probably figure out how to resolve the problems. For now this app is useless.
Only very few items come with an audio clip
I upgraded to the full version and realized that not every art piece on the “audio” tab came with an audio clip. This is a false advertisement because I thought the full version should have all the audio clips. That totally ruined my Louvre experience because I had to read the description first and came back to look at the actual art works, which doubled the amount of time. And Louvre is always crowded, so it is hard standing there reading in the crowd, too. The information is good. It might be a fun app to explore for virtual tour at home. However, it’s definitely not an ideal guide to explore the museum.
Not updated
If you want to use this App to tour the Louvre, expect for it to not be updated and contain outdated information about which wings are open and the location of important works of art.
Bad
Wish I could leave a 0 star review
Useless
The Louvre is massive and confusing at best. We did the suggested 4 hr tour and this app had us walking all over, up and down levels and back and forth between the wings. There were no directions how to get between the various places so we got lost several times. Probably best to do a guided tour next time.
Just spent 8 hours using this.
Overall good - however it doesn’t go in order and has you crisscrossing back and forth through some of the most high traffic areas in the museum. The audio is very 80s robotic sounding - much better to just read the summaries on the app. Good search feature but no route / mapping - it only shows the location on the map. Many exhibits / halls closed - would be good if it had updated reports on what was closed / under restoration.
