Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium's Beach Conditions Reporting System (BCRS) is an application for the public to view beach conditions reports submitted by trained volunteer Beach Ambassadors. The BCRS provides real and near-time data from participating Florida beaches including parameters like flag color, water temperature, surf conditions, crowds, respiratory irritation, dead fish, beach amenities and many more! Users can also contribute reports of their own observations through the Community Science Portal on the BCRS. We aim to engage community members in scientific observation and aid in making informed decisions that can both protect public health and improve beach experiences. Happy beach going!
Stable & Accurate
The development team fixed the issues with the app and emails. The reports are now up-to-date. I metal detect on the west coast of Florida and find the reports beneficial when selecting which beach to go to.
Worked great when there were actually beach reports
As of April 13 the last beach reports were from March 13. With active red tide in the area it would be nice to have beach conditions.
Doesn’t currently work
The most recent beach reports are from March 14, nearly a month ago. As users need timely information regarding conditions, this app has become useless.
Useless
I can’t subscribe to updates because it says my email is invalid. When I try to contact it says my emails don’t match.
A work in progress
This would be an excellent app if it worked better. Very slow loading reports with spinning wheel. Has trouble taking email addresses. When trying to send comments I was unable as the app repeatedly indicated that my email address did not match, even after copying and pasting.
Glitchy
Was good when it worked. My email and app reports are over two weeks old. The app and website will not accept valid emails to report errors.
Useless
Can’t verify email and functions don’t work.
