Track and log your flights while improving them thanks to the various instruments (Vario, wind,...) providing useful information during the flight. Also on Apple Watch. ## INSTRUMENTS FOR FLYING ## • Vario (very powerful, using the combination of multiple sensors a.k.a sensor fusion) with sound (bips according to the vertical speed). Customizable. • Ground speed • Wind speed estimation • Wind direction estimation • Live map display of your location • Altitude • Glide ratio • Distance & Time • Heading • TAKE-OFF DETECTION: focus on your preparation, the recording will start automatically • LANDING DETECTION: on landing, the recording will stop automatically. You'll thus never forget to save. • ... ## TRACK, LOG, REVIEW & ANALYZE ## Have all your flights recorded in a convenient logbook with: • GPS track review (also interactively with Flight Replay) • Flight statistics • Global statistics • Charts for deep analysis of your flights • Add notes to your flights (example: weather, ...) • Equipment management (What gear did you use during your flights) • GPX import & export • IGC import & export • Instant sharing of a flight summary to any social media / messaging app • ... ## WINGMAN + APPLE WATCH ## • Independent app: no need to have your iPhone with you • Automatic sync of your flights with your iPhone/iPad • Automatic sync of your settings with your iPhone/iPad • Flight instruments on your wrist: Vario (sound & haptic feedback), altimeter, speed, ... The app will be improved over time based on your (nice ;-)) feedback. The app respects your privacy. I hope you enjoy it! Very well done
Great app. I’m a particular fan of the takeoff detection option. Really nice to have things quiet while on the ground and to not have to think about starting the flight log one e airborn. Super user friendly. Thanks!!!
Really nice all
Easy to use and I love the interface
Nearly perfect
Would love a life time purchase option rather than subscription. 3D map viewer would be awesome. Way to change logos to hang-gliders would be cool. A breakdown of what sensors are being used would be sweet! A way to connect a Bluetooth anemometer would be cool.
Well done
It would be nice if you could have a map on your watch but otherwise a great and useful app
Helpful app
I’ve been pleased with this app. I have, however, experienced a couple of issues that I’ve reported, but so far remain unresolved. The auto-launch and auto-land features work well for the first flight. I was told that the program will recognize a second launch automatically and begin to log the second flight, and that this should be the behavior for all subsequent flights. I haven’t been able to get the app to do this; not on my iWatch or my iPhone. This is an annoyance when ridge soaring and top landing. The second issue is that the app is suppose to sync with all my devices. The only way I can get a flight log onto my iPad is by uploading/downloading a .gpx file. I’ve had syncing issues before between my iPhone and iPad in general but have always been able to figure out why. I’m stumped though with Wingman. I very much appreciate that John is constantly working to improve the app. However, ensuring that the advertised features are functional for the user needs to be a priority. In the past John has been very responsive to emails, so I’m hopeful that he can help get these issues resolved for me.
Pleasantly surprised
Initially I wrote a very harsh review sighting no support for 3D flight tracking and missing data for one of my flights but I sent an email to John the Wingman creator and explained the issues and he promptly responded. Just getting an immediate response was enough for me to take a second look. It turns out he is continuing to improve the app and plans to add 3D support as soon as possible. He also explained that sometimes data can be lost if the phone is shielded from the satellite signal. He intends to resolve this by introducing a sensitivity setting allowing the user to reduce the signal accuracy which will increase signal reliability. Also, he told me about a new feature he is developing that will allow users to share their flights with other pilots. So, what started out to be a complaint has now become kudos. Thanks John!
Not quite ready for prime time
I have decided to find another app to log my flights. I liked the app well enough initially but it doesn’t show the elevation graphically in 3D space. It just projects the flight onto the ground. I couldn’t find a setting that would change this so I am assuming it is a limitation. I know the data is there because I imported the flights into Google Earth and it shows the elevation fine. More importantly, last night I logged a flight that was around 35 minutes in duration but the app logged basically a straight line from launch to landing. The duration was right but it missed most of the thermalling in the middle of the flight. I need to have a logger that I can have confidence in, not one that works intermittently.
adjust start & end of a flight for more accurate GPS tracks• Possibility to add flights manually to complete your flightbook • Wingman for Apple Watch has been entirely redesigned • Wingman for Apple Watch nos has automatic take-off and landing detection
