Dorsal is the worlds most advanced shark reporting and alerts solution. It is a free community based shark alert solution that allows beachgoers and authorities to immediately alert others to shark sightings or attacks in their area. Currently used by over 250,000 people, the Dorsal solution features reports from official channels, the public, Dorsal aerial surveillance partners and over 100 media outlets. Key features: Choose from Australia, USA, Hawaii, Réunion Search your local area to see if there have been any shark sightings in the last 12 hours Search Around You, via Map or List view Submit your own sightings to warn others, including video and image uploading In addition to the free service, there is also a subscription service for $9.99/year that removes the in app ads and allows you to receive automatic push notifications of sightings within your GPS location or favourite locations. The amount will be charged to your iTunes account and may vary by country and you will see the total price before completing payment. To avoid renewal, you must turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before your subscription ends which you can do by turning off auto-renew at any time from your iTunes account settings. Note: Dorsal app can track your location while in the background, so you can continue to use your iPhone for other tasks (Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life). Good not Great
Really good app, however it seems to crash a lot when I check the local pings and notifications. It’s a wonderful idea, love the way it’s set up…if only it didn’t crash every so often it would be perfect!
Typically awesome
This app is so awesome for everything in sharks 🦈. Everything from attacks, to spotting, to tagging. You can’t say much more than that!!!
Embarrassing app.
Used to be a great app. Whenever clicking on an incident, they show you a 30 second ad. After watching the dopey ad for some dumb game, you can see the details of the incident but can’t see the pictures without a subscription.
Sketchy Paywall Central!!
After downloading what I thought was a professional type app, I quickly discovered to view EACH beach area, I had to sit through twerking, hiphop app adds, all aimed at a young-teen type audience, I was put off rather than interested. I understand trying to sell thus app (at $9.99, is not worth it) you can get this information from “hawaii Today”, “West Hawaii” and others for FREE. Dont be sketch and you’d get more respect…
Rating nags
Give them one star and they will go away forever
Great idea!!!
I LOVE this app. I live in Hawaii and didn’t know this app existed until recent shark attacks. I’m going to spread the word on Facebook since it’s a user generated app and the more people reporting the safer we’ll feel in the water.
Wouldn’t even let me sign in the first time...deleted
Something is off with this app. The app takes you to its website when you click on the icon, and asks you to set up an account, but the first response back is a “password invalid” type message, but it never even confirmed my new password or new account or sent me an email to confirm anything. Then when I googled the app, the page that comes up is the same sign up page the phone desktop icon takes you to. The whole experience was too shaky for me to buy into their onerous terms and conditions. Deleted.
