Group members may include any of the nearly 1,000 amateur and professional paleontologists currently in the myFOSSIL community. Directly from the field, users can upload fossil images to the myFOSSIL gallery to compare and discuss their finds and techniques. By adding in details about location, taxonomy, and geology, these fossil images become scientific records accessible to researchers and educators worldwide. Beyond specimens, users can also document and share paleontological methods, events, collecting sites, and more! Designed to facilitate a visually rich form of social learning, the myFOSSIL mobile app allows users to become part of the larger social paleontology community.
Wouldn’t know, it won’t let me register
I’ve tried for hours to get myself registered with an account so I can continue my quest of identifying a huge lot of various sharks teeth and a variety of marine life specimens I’m unable to currently identify for lack of find an app that offers a wider variety of species rather than just focusing on just sharks teeth, fish vertebrae etc. this app looked promising, it’s been to my great dismay that I’m completely unable to create an account in order to make my way around the app itself and form a better opinion. Update, perhaps?

This app would not let me register. I was trying to get a new account but it kept saying my password was wrong. I put my password in more that 5 times correctly and it still says my password is wrong. I don’t know how to fix this.

I was so excited to try this app, but it essentially does not work. I have tried to upload photos multiple times to no avail. Joining groups is virtually impossible. Geolocation forget about it. Interface looks good but app is literally nonfunctional. Please overhaul or else not worth anyone’s time.

Don’t bother. The app experience feels like a high school coding project. There’s no effort to incorporate machine learning. Worse, the people running this community (especially Bill Heim) are rude and toxic. I really hope the NSF stops funding this horror-show of a project. Better off posting your fossils to Reddit or some other online forum.

Whenever I try to open the app, I get a red banner error message that says “Expired Token”. I hate to give this app such a low star rating, however I simply can’t use this fabulous app as of now. Thank you!
