Bonhams Fine Art Auctioneers & Valuers: auctioneers of art, pictures, collectables and motor cars. Bonhams, founded in 1793, is one of the world's largest auctioneers of fine art and antiques. The present company was formed by the merger in November 2001 of Bonhams & Brooks and Phillips Son & Neale. In August 2002, the company acquired Butterfields, the principal firm of auctioneers on the West Coast of America. Today, Bonhams offers more sales than any of its rivals, through two major salerooms in London: New Bond Street and Knightsbridge; and a further three in the UK regions and Scotland. Sales are also held in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Carmel, New York and Connecticut in the USA; and Germany, France, Monaco, Hong Kong and Australia. Bonhams has a worldwide network of offices and regional representatives in 25 countries offering sales advice and valuation services in 60 specialist areas.
First experience with Bonham’s auction
I am a lifelong, experienced auction bidder. My first experience has been a disappointment. The 28% user charge is extremely high and the telephone listed for contact is on perpetual hold and then abrupt hang up without contact with a person. They do not provide a digital access interface for payment. I am unsure how to pay, unable to contact support and unlikely to use this auction house in the future. Extremely disappointing experience, especially considering their user fee is more than twice any other auction house I have dealt with in past.
A long way to go
I would like to be able to save favorite artists and get notification when their work comes up for auction. Neither of these things is possible with the current app.
On line auction
Seems like when you place a online bid your app would show you what current bid is.. how do you know or see if you need to re-bid to be on top? Is it top secret? Seems odd your not notified your out bid?
Poor customer service
Bonhams in New York City was very insensitive to the challenges of picking up purchased artworks in New York City. It was necessary to bring a car to pick up the works and I called an hour ahead of time to alert them that I was coming. I then called them again when I arrived outside the front door, and they kept me waiting for half an hour for someone to walk the pieces upstairs while I was illegally parked on the street. There should have been someone available to take five minutes to walk up to the street with my two artworks.
Can’t find what I want
If there is some way to display only upcoming auctions in NY or only a specific type of auction, I can’t find it.

The website makes you sign in many times for the same question. I tried to check on my password and account and I had difficulty changing it. I have a letter that says I have a bid but on my website it says I have no bids. Obviously something is wrong.
