Use ScreenFloat to create floating screenshots that are always visible, no matter which application you're in. This way, you don't have to move or resize windows around to keep information visible on your screen. • Floating Screenshots Screenshots you create with ScreenFloat (by default with the keyboard hotkey cmd-shift-2) immediately open up and are always displayed in front of other windows, following you around, no matter which application, space or fullscreen app you are in. Shots can be changed in size, or in opacity by scrolling up or down within them. • Shots Browser ScreenFloat keeps your shots around for later reference when you close them. Shots are collected in the Shots Browser where you can name, tag, organize and categorize them. • Quick and easy export of shots You can send shots created with ScreenFloat to any application that handles image files. A double click onto a floating shot will open it in a default application you can specify for even quicker export. Use it contantly
I love ScreenFloat after using other capture utilites in the past that aged out. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could but I have hopes that version 2 will have some new features. My past utility let me markup the screen shots without out going to another app. It would also be nice to have a choice on whether or not the shots float or not. Keep up the great work Matthias.
Good app, some features missing
It's a nice app in general. It would be nice to be able to rename screenshots to give them some meaningful names, especially for the ones stored in collections. Automatic naming schemes (like in IrfanView) would be even better.
Really great
I've used this for years. Excellent, excellent utility.
I purchased this app on a lark but it’s great
I didn’t really think that I needed a floating screen capture app since I have another comprehensive screen capture app that I am very satisfied with and continue to use for its intended purpose. However, for the multitude of times a day that I need to use a snippet of information, perhaps contained in an image or text from one place to another application, ScreenFloat (V 1.5.13) has saved me a significant amount of time already. The app is quick yet flexible - images can be saved, moved to another app, and/or deleted. It is definitely worth the $9 purchase price. Update: 12-28-21 The latest improvements in version 15.19 add increased flexibility to an alreayd extremely useful app. For me the option to overwrite a file during "Save" is a useful addition. Of course you can still give the new file a new name if you don't want to overwrite a preiously saved file.
Very Handy
If you need to reference anything on screen while writing, this utility will save you time and effort. A must-have productivity boost.
Evolve your workflow!
You will use this app in ways you didn't anticipate. Very useful when you want to switch windows on a single monitor but still want to see something on the screen like a password, email, or piece of code.
Exactly what I was looking for
All I wanted to do was take screenshots and force them to stay on top of every window. This does exactly that plus it saves the screenshots and I can resize them. Perfect for what I need. Thank you!
- When choosing to override a file in the Save as dialog, the file is actually overridden - You can now choose the file type to save images as in the Save as dialog - When attempting to open more than 10 shots at once from the Shots Browser, a warning dialog is shown to help prevent accidental openings *** If you enjoy ScreenFloat, please consider leaving a rating or a review on the App Stores - it would help me out a lot!
