Description
All the features of the award winning AudioNote, plus a LOT more!

Use Note Studio to stop focusing on note taking, and start focusing on learning!

Did you know that the more effort you put into taking notes, the less likely you are to remember or understand the material?

By keeping your notes synced with the source material, Note Studio allows you to take much briefer notes without fear of missing information. This lets you focus on absorbing the content rather than putting all your effort into writing it down.

Whether you’re attending a live lecture, reading from a book, watching a video, or researching a topic on the Web, Note Studio will help you keep track of where you found information, allowing you to easily return to the material if you need to fill in the gaps.

Audio Notes: You can record audio and type up notes, with each note synced to the time in the audio they were created. You can import audio, or add notes to a recording while playing it back.

Video Notes: You can import video files or load a video using the URL of the video file (note that the URL of the video will not always be the same as the URL of the page you see the video on). While playing the video, you can type up notes and take screenshots to easily capture and organize the information it the video. You can also record video and notes either while recording, or afterwards.

Book Notes: Import PDFs or epub files to study. You can highlight the text and automatically copy the highlighted text into your notes, type out notes which will each function as a bookmark, or use the drawing tools to mark up the text itself.

Web Notes: Take notes while you research a subject on the web to automatically track where you found information.

Subject Organizer: You can create a ‘Subject’ to group notes that are related to the same topic. Once a subject is created, you can drag files, URL’s and notes into its timeline, or save new notes as a part of the Subject. Everything will then be stored inside the Subject in Note Studio, making it easy to search for specific topics, or review information from a date range. The timeline will also let you add memos and assignments to track work that must be done in the future, and can add reminders to your calendar.

No responses from technical support

I am wondering if they have gone out of business, just gave up on fixing bugs or just lost interest in improving their product -- which offers great potential if attention were given to it.

Crash City

I have audionote and audionote 2. Mistakenly bought this thinking it was an alternative. This was a perfect recording program for a long time, and now it crashes regularly. It had become an integral part of my work flow and it has cost me hours, lost irreplaceable notes. I was a fan but I now hate these guys. Lousy support. Find something else.

Doesn't work properly - very buggy

I have heard good things about AudioNote 2, so I figured I'd purchase this app since it is made by the same developer and has more features. I regret my decision. This app is very buggy and does not work properly. Also, the interface is very confusing. I do not recommend this app.

Exceptional, ever-evolving and always getting better.

Note Studio gets better and better every year. I have purchased both Luminant's AudioNote and Note Studio products and find them indispensible. Not only do they have a high utility value but Luminant is incredibly responsive to customer inquiries, problem solving and suggestions. In the words of Frank Perdue: "It doesn't matter what the product or the service is, that there is no limit whatsoever to the amount of quality that can be added to anything. If you believe in the unlimited ability of your people, the quality of what you offer, and if you behave with total integrity in your business dealings, then all the rest of that stuff -- market share, growth, and profitability -- will take care of itself."

Very Easy To Use

I have tried many notetaking apps and I have found this to be the most versitile and easy to understand.

Way Overpriced, ammatour interface with lacking features will make you feel true buyer’s remorse

This app cost too much too much for what it offers, and lacks. Here is some insight on the app: LOOK: * Unattractive, outdated interface. No ‘innovative’ feel like Evernote or OneNote when you just know the interface is updated and up to the ’now’. FEEL: * It has a quirky and non-intuitive, outdated feel to it. The program seems to be rushed and focused on profit rather than researching the need of the customer. * Can’t drag/drop, copy and paste photos into the editor. Have to actually have an image file. Outdated! * Seems more like a ‘Note Shack’ rather than a ‘Note Studio’ because it appears that not enough research and effort was put into it. * Very difficult and troublesome to sync a note or other content with the audio/video when not making the note live. When playing the note to see the video and text notes play synced, the results are unexpected, rough, off-sync and skipish. There is no way to know exactly how the video/audio will sync with the text because again, the app is not intuitive where the result would be obvious. No real way to adjust it to any kind of percision without going way too far out of one's way. For example, I selected a sentence to sync with a point in time to the video, but when I play the video the cursor skips to just the word and then disappears and one simply cannot tell what it’s wanting to do. Very confusing setup. * Videos often skip and unexpectedly repeat small segments, and no manual editing of time code on editor. Need to position the play head to make a note, no manual entry of time code, no way to copy and paste from an editor. Outdated! (And at this price, the app could take advantage of Mac’s built-in audio transcribing options, too.) FEATURES: * VERY few formatting options. No tables, no columns, no colors, nothing but simple bullets and numbering, a black and white draw pen, and a yellow highlighter (no other colors). That’s all you'll get. * As this is a note taking app, one would ask, where is the ability to extensively search and locate notes? The current implementation of searching for a note is an over simplistic find dialog that lacks the more advanced search capability one would expect in an application of this price. Typically advanced search options would be available, and all matches would appear in a clickable pane -- ESPECIALLY at this price. When taking notes, students need to move around the notes QUICKLY and without hassle. Think out of the box: Saved searches per document, bookmarks, search pane, locate by highlight etc. * Allows one to import video files, so why not you tube links (embed or offline) or no embed/download web links to videos? Why? * No closed-caption file importing. In an application of this nature (and again, high cost), why not enable closed caption files imported into the note and/or into the video viewer? Doesn't that make a lot more sense? At least then one would be able to bypass horrible built-in media-to-note sync implementation. * No embedding videos or audio directly into the note. While it is okay to have note types set up at making notes on a particular media file, it makes absolutely no sense that actual document area to take notes is so lacking as to not allow more rich multimedia content and embedding directly into the document to elaborate the note. One must create a whole entire ‘note type’ to make use of a single media file. Which means ONE video OR ONE audio per file. Outdated! CONCLUSION: * One single feature that it has is to sync audio/video with text/content in a hackish and poor video performing way isn’t even worth it. * People are serious about their money. The bottom line is, if this app was available as a free trial first, the author could expect much fewer purchases until greatly improved. * Belongs in the under $10 section, to be frankly honest. Many users may feel ripped off. * If you are just thinking about buying this app as a student and not wanting to try a big chunk of your buck, don’t do it. Wait on it! Or Perhaps try Pear Note which appears to have been at least a half star rating more, a more updated interface, more highlight colors, ability to change speed, and multiple media types per notes. While it may also need some improvement, it may be a LITTLE better considering it's rating a little higher.
