United StatesPhoto backup freezes on large queues
I was really optimistic that kSuite and kDrive would meet my needs. The price for 3TB of storage is very good and the auto-backup of my iphones camera roll sold me. However, with ~12,000 photos to upload, the upload process freezes constantly, even left alone for hours upload would not resume until I quit and opened the app again and a few more photos would trickle in. When I deleted some photos I didn't want from my photo gallery that were in queue the app crashed hard and would not start again until I "un-deleted"/recovered the photos from trash. I would click the icon to start the app and it would just exit instantly. I'll just have to try another way to backup my photo library, maybe with the desktop app, but I never liked creating a virtual cloud folder on desktop - especially when the cloud drive is 6 times larger than my physical disk!

For those looking for a privacy focus cloud, this will help you… Let me start by saying that if it wasn’t for the issue below, this will be the best cloud provider out there by far!! Unfortunately, these are the most important issues to me. I open an account to try the cloud service looking to move all my business to infomaniak. I have been looking for a better privacy focus solution for my business, storage customer data and to recommend to my customers too. Infomaniak advertise themselves as a privacy friendly cloud. This is the case for the most part since they don’t use big tech for their service and they are open source. However, after I open my account, the only way to use any of the services is by downloading another app and handing them A LOT of my personal information, including DRIVER LICENSE OR PASSPORT! To be clear, I will be ok with this as long the cloud is End to end encrypted or at least a specific “folder or vault” that is encrypted for my customers data. Similar to pCloud, IceDrive, Internxt, Treasure and others. Unfortunately infomaniak doesn’t offer any E2E options 😩 In the other hand, they have a lot to offer and these are some of the things I loved about it. kDrive seems to be a good idea but Infomaniak based mainly its privacy on their Switzerland based location. Being in Switzerland does not guarantee privacy or confidentiality anymore since a long time now. All bankers or financial people know that. Real privacy MUST be based on end to end encryption, something that kDrive does not provide vs pCloud (Luxembourg) or even Tresorit which is also based in Switzerland. Also, as long as Infomaniak won't provide real end-to-end encryption, privacy as stated is only marketing communication. Last but not least, Raw format is not recognized and they don't offer a lifetime plan and scalable option for individual users.
