Description
Focus Matrix is a smart personal organizer based on the so-called Eisenhower box, a personal productivity strategy created by Dwight Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States. The principle uses a special priority matrix that helps break your tasks into several groups depending on their urgency and importance, and work your way through your daily agenda in the most efficient way possible. This app will help you focus on what really matters, and get rid of the things that can be painlessly delegated to others or postponed indefinitely until you have time for them.

The key features:

- Two views: Matrix and List of Sections
- Move tasks between sections using drag-and-drop
- Maximize a section to get a closer look at its content
- Use the “Unsorted” section for tasks which are needed to be sorted by quadrants
- Set “All day task” to plan tasks for the whole working day
- Sort tasks by title, due date or manually
- Assign due dates to tasks
- Set reminders to never miss an important deadline
- Tasks that are approaching their due dates are automatically carried over from the Not Urgent category to the Urgent list with user notification
- Delegate tasks by email, messages, etc. (through the context menu)
- Task lists can be shared to Facebook, Twitter, etc.
- Editing of multiple tasks at once
- Copying and pasting of tasks within the program, as well as from/to other applications
- Search and tags support
- Task filtering by tags and statuses (completed/uncompleted)
- Export to PDF or print the task list
- Configurable statistics and reports for completed tasks
- Password protection
- Also available for iPhone and iPad*
- Optimized for Mac with M1

Pro version features:

- Cross-device synchronization*
- Seamless integration with Calendar (synchronization of tasks, due and remind dates)
- Integration with Be Focused**: synchronization of tasks and their statuses, possibility to start a timer in Be Focused right from Focus Matrix

* Sync with iOS devices requires Pro version of Focus Matrix for iOS, sold separately.
** Be Focused helps you get things done by breaking up individual tasks among discrete intervals. It’s available for Mac and iOS devices in App Store. Integration with Be Focused requires the Pro version of Be Focused, sold separately.

Love love love

I totally love this program. I seem to be a person who needs the Eisenhower Square. Been using a couple of weeks and have been knocking out my to-do list, and getting the most important things done first. I love how you can move objectives from square to square as priorities change!

Really like this, but one major complaint: No sub-task option

Just downloaded this program and its complement (Be Focused Pro, both for Mac and iOS) because I like the concept and the integration across programs. I had been using a different Pomodoro app with much less functionality, and think the ability to tackle tasks specified in Focus Matrix is awesome. BUT, what about when you have a parent task that has a number of subtasks you need to complete? There is no option for this. I would love an update that allows you to designate subtasks under a Parent Task heading, even if they are all within the same quadrant -- though, ideally, you could have a master task with various sub tasks in different quadrants, so you could lay out how you are going to tackle the project in pieces and due dates and priorities for each of the pieces. PLEASE consider this. Thanks!

Recommended, But Could Be Improved In Two Ways

I love this app - it is easy to use, has a nice logic to it, and works well with Be Focused companion app. I find I am more productive when using the app and tend to last longer energy-wise. There are two issues I have though, one being a bug and the other being a suggestion for a future feature. 1) Sometimes, my first attempt at adding a task doesn't take. By that, I mean the task will disappear after entering it upon highlighting another task. And when I try to "send" the task to the Be Focused app, the app will complain that it "cannot start the timer for this task". I don't know if others have been experiencing that, but I have been getting this error for every 5th or so task for the last year or so. Not a huge deal but kind of annoying, and hopefully it could be addressed in a future update. 2) After checking off a task, it would be nice to have the option to arrange tasks by whether they've been completed (i.e., move completed tasks to the bottom), or have the option to have them expire or go away immediately (the shortest option currently is one day). If I've been productive - thank you, app! - it can be a small hastle to have to scroll down to the end to see the next task. I subtract one star for those two points. They would be nice improvements in my opinion, but I otherwise love the app!

Not properly Synching with Be Focused Pro

I have reached out to the developer and still no response, I will change my review once the issue has been addressed. I have purchased be focused pro on ios and mac however focus matrix is telling me I have to purchase be focused pro again. Also, you guys really need to add a dark mode to focus matrix, as of now I avoid focus matrix simply because it is the only window I have that isnt in dark mode.

Manage on my Mac, always handy on my phone...

This has become my most used application on my iPhone. I bought the macOS version which I use on both my desktop and laptop systems, and the iOS version which I use on my iPad and iPhone. You only need to buy the once license for each platform. Being able to work with my lists on my Mac, but have them handy on my iPhone is really convenient. And when I’m out and about and think of a task, I can easily add a new one using my iPhone. Generally I let the task added on my iPhone go to the inbox by default and assign the quadrant later at my desktop, although the iOS apps have the same full functionality as the macOS version. The only thing I’d change or want to add: - Ability to sort tags to make it easier to find the right one. Right now tags appear in the order added. There is no real tag management. You assign existing tags or create a new tag just by entering it. But when a tag is no longer assigned to any reminder entry, it disappears from the list. There is no explicit way to delete a tag or make it always available. - Being able to assign a location to an entry would be nice. I have largely replace my use of the Apple reminder app with this utility. The exception is when I want to create a repeating reminder which as far as I can tell this app does not do.
