More like second draft sadly
I have been using this app for quite some time and I sadly must say it’s a bit of a mess—a mess which can sometimes lead to significant losses in work. Margins and styles randomly change and the iPhone options are limited so I can’t fix them while on mobile—which is confusing as to how they changed in the first place. Sometimes when saving I’ll discover that the save was not up to date and when I reload I’m missing entire scenes or pages. More than anything though, I just want the settings that are available on Mac so that I can fix things when the app breaks them. Instead, I have to wait until I can get on a computer again and manually change things one at a time.

I’m so in love with the is app. I don’t ever ever write reviews about apps. It’s simple, easy to use! Once you’re done using a line, it goes straight to the next line (action). There’s buttons that help you navigate which type of line you’re gonna use next! You don’t have to add: (cont’d), it adds it for you. I haven’t used the more complex margins I used voice dictation and what would of taken me a week almost to physically type, took me a couple of hours when reading off my draft to make my official final. It has word search, it changes every incorrect word you want to search, works like (Ctrl+f). You type the incorrect word you know you used multiple times and it’ll find it and you use another enter button that has the desired spelling and hit enter, instead of typing it every.single.time! It helps so much!

I do 99% of my work on my iPad Pro, and part of that work is writing scripts. FD is the standard in the industry, but as working on an iPad becomes more common, FD is not updating their iPad app in any way to accommodate these users. There is so much functionality that the desktop version of Final Draft provides that is absent from the iPadOS version. I understand that mobile devices will probably never get the care and attention that their desktop companions get, but not having at least a LITTLE bit more functionality has made me move on to another writing program on my iPad. For instance, the ability to rearrange scenes. Luckily for FD Mobile, most writing apps offered for iPadOS have limited functionality so there are only a few options available and none of them are full featured.

I gotta admit the low stars feedback MUST be user mistake. This app has transferred over form 1 iPad Pro to another without a hitch. Love the fact that I can pick up from my MacBook version of the script as long as it’s synced to iCloud. Obviously it doesn’t have the features that FD12 has, but if you’re in a writing mood without distractions, this is the ultimate app. It doesn’t get better than this…

I’ve used free versions of script writing tools, even just the notes app. But this is by far the best script writing tool on the market for both iPhone and Mac. I am writing this review in a park because I was just inspired to finish a scene I was working on awhile ago. It was synced via the cloud and I could easily find and edit my script without losing my train of thought.

This app is amazing. It helps me write cohesive scripts without requiring a macbook. However, The app needs to be updated to match up with the MacBook version. It is currently missing the immersive storytelling format. I’d really appreciate it if they updated it to add that format.
