The most detail
I use several 3d scanning apps, but Trnio plus is my go-to app when I want high detail. The level of detail rivals desktop photogrammetry programs. The fact that you can import images taken with your phone or other device and even combine them with LiDAR or ARKit scans gives you a flexibility that other apps don’t have. For beginners, the ARKit scanning mode is a great option. The coverage of LiDAR mode is also insane! All around amazing tool to have in your pocket.
Love this app
I’m studying sculpture and believe this app is the future.
the best
I used many 3d scanning apps in Apple store, and even used Meshroom in PC. So far I have got the best results for small objects: mug cup size in a reasonably short time, high quality, and easy to export obj from this app. I like the UIs in general, neat and organized. Definitely worth a try!
High quality 3d scanning app
Have been using Trnio for a few years just as a photogrammetry app and it would produce some really impressive results. Switched over to Trnio plus about a year ago and the results are even more outstanding. Complex objects that gave me trouble with photogrammetry alone, were no problem for Trnio plus
Not good
Scanned a black object white background it scanned more of the background
A great app for 3d scanning with quality results
The models produced tend to be better than what you normally get with a phone based scanner. (I have tried just about all of them, free and paid) The scanner is easier to use than a lot of others , you don’t have to be perfect or use special equipment like a tripod and turn table to get an accurate enough scan. I’m not saying it’s perfect or that you can’t mess up a scan but its more forgiving than most. The models you get tend to be accurate enough to use in 3d rendering (Blender etc.) with minimal cleanup / fixing. (Few or no holes, not excessively noisy.) Honestly some of the models (done with my phone under normal room lighting conditions ) that I have gotten out of this app have come extremely close in terms of detail and overall model quality to what I was able to get with special equipment and expensive photogrammetry software. The biggest thing for me personally: No other app on the app store for 3d scanning has output a single model that has been good enough quality that I was then subsequently able to use actually use that model in a serious project except for this app. *** full disclosure *** the textures in this case were not used, the model was retextured entirely before production use but that doesn’t change the fact that the model itself was good enough to use. (It required only a bit of cleanup, filling two small holes, a few minor mesh fixes& tweaks and a few hours to redo UV mapping and texture ) Also, please be aware that the quality of output textures has improved from this app since that time so that need to retexture may not apply to the current version, although the fact that I was able to retexture it and have it look great speaks to the quality and accuracy of the detail in the underlying model. The model itself has a lot of the finer details that really made it pop) The built in cropping tool is the easiest experience I have ever had cropping a 3d model. (It’s almost dare I say, fun, to use! You just swipe away what you don’t want.) (The models tend to be fairly clean to start with) I’m not sure if this is accurate but it almost seems to translate your swipes a bit so like when your trying to swipe like a clean line off part it just seems to work… idk all I can say for sure is that its surprisingly easy to get the cropping that you want so: Nice job on this feature! Support. If you have an issue, or you simply want to find out why X happened with your scan, they respond quickly, often within hours. Price. The prices is surprisingly reasonable (perhaps even aggressively competitive I dare say) especially when you consider that its not just a paywall to use your own devices resources but your getting an actual service: (You upload and they processes and produce the model and send it back) and they provide timely support. In conclusion, with a reasonable amount of effort, in reasonable lighting conditions, without any special equipment beyond your phone and a bit of practice you can get surprisingly good results of scannable objects that you may find actually useful in projects / content creation. Overall, 5 stars. If your searching for a 3d scanning app and don’t have a $0 budget (its not expensive) I strongly recommend this app.
