The RED Control App gives users complete control over their V-RAPTOR™ or KOMODO™ Camera. This free app is easy to use and controls the camera directly from your iOS device. The app offers users a unique customizable interface and the ability to live stream from the camera, navigate the entire menu, and offers both portrait and landscape modes with a full-screen option. Note: RED Control App is compatible with V-RAPTOR, V-RAPTOR XL, KOMODO-X, and KOMODO 6K only. Not available for use with DSMC2 or previous generation RED cameras. Lens control requires a compatible electronic lens.
Using with Link
Using with the Komodo Link. The latency is there but minimal. Starts pretty much every time. Sometimes I have to pull the usb side and replug in. One request would be to have the record button when zoomed in. Other than that super happy with this setup. It’s light it’s accurate and it works! Crazy to not need monitors anymore!
Does not work on my iPhone 14 Pro Max
Does not work on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. The phone is able to connect to the camera, but the app does not see it. Tried many times. Clicking on “get started” crashes the app. Others have seemingly reported similar issues with other iPhone models that have not been addressed.
Will not find my camera despite settings being correct
My Komodo will not show up in the app on my iPhone 12 Pro no matter what I do. I know I have the setting correct, because it shows up on my iPad no problem - so I am able to do it successfully - just not on my iPhone. Also, when I hit the buttons Get Started or Red Support, the app crashes. Every time. This is garbage.
Getting better and better…
One crucial think I’d like to see is in full screen mode, when I ONLY see the video image I’d like to see a red bar/box when recording. Right now no indication and previous version had that. Additionally now there is screen real estate above in 2.35 aspect. Would be cool to have buttons up there. Still DME link g issues but ne thing users need to know is that if your iPhone doesn’t connect you need to turn off all the radios except Wi-Fi. Then it’ll work. Still issues to get into full screen when double tapping on image. About 50% of the time. Only a restart of app can fix it. Thanks for your hard work.
Not working on latest iphone 13 pro max
App does not detect camera on iPhone 13 Pro Max with software 15.6 Tried on two different phones, same result. Works on old iphone X and iPad pro without issue.
Doesn’t work - Fix
Can you make the software available for ipad? Or make at least the current version utilize all of the screen real estate on iphone 13Max and ipads. thank you. Update 06/30/2021 Two more requests: 1. When in full screen on iPhone 12 Pro Max in 2.35 aspect ratio, would be great if the left and right buttons would be rather on top or bottom so that the video image can be larger. Right now when they are left and right the image gets smaller, but there are big black stripes/frames on top and bottom and it‘s wasted real estate. 2. For focus pulling the even the iPhone Pro Max is not ideal but the iPad Pro seems to be a better size. BUT there is no native iPad app. Can you make that happen? Thank you. Update 02/01/2021 Now the previous bugs have been solved. Especially the screen rotation. Thank you. But what has not been solved is that when I put my iPhone to sleep and power down the camera in order to save battery Iife and then I turn everything on again and open up the app the video feed is gone. Even though the iPhone is still connected to the Komodo via WiFi. So then I have to hard-quit the app through the app launcher, restart the app again. That happens every single time I put my phone to sleep. Solution: I’d like the app reconnect automatically every time I open the app. Is that possible? Thank you. Update 11/12/2020 I use the iPhone 12 Pro Max as a dedicated wireless screen but the app doesn’t even use the entire screen. I understand that the output is only 720 but I really would like the option to make the video feed full screen if I choose so. Thank you. Update 11/02020 It seems that the camera doesn’t connect to the phone when cellular and Bluetooth are on. If I switch the off the phone registers the Komodo and is able to connect. Btw. Komodo connects flawlessly to an iPad. Maybe because it has no cellular module. Maybe this can be worked out. Original Review. Hi. I just received the Komodo and I got my iPhone 11 once to connect reliably. Now after a day I tried to connect again and no way to connect it to Ad Hoc mode. Nothing has changed at the settings. Same is true for our iPhone 12 pro. Can’t get it connected at all.
Needs iPad Resolution Support
Great App but it’s missing the higher resolution needed for full screen viewing on an iPad. Hopefully RED has that update already under development.
