MetaDoctor Pro is a comprehensive and powerful video metadata editor for your .mp4, .m4v, and .mov video files. Specially designed to work with iMovie and iTunes - and now the TV App and Apple TV - tags, cover art, and chapters can be edited easily and efficiently in a single convenient window. Edit the video file metadata with MetaDoctor Pro, import into the TV App, and enjoy your videos on your Apple TV complete with descriptions, art work, and chapters. Chapters can be added with ease using the built-in video pane. Scrub the video to the desired frame, click a button, and the chapter is automatically inserted at that exact time. No copying, pasting, or typing. Changing chapter times is just as easy. Cover art can be added either from an image file or by copy and paste, and adjusted and cropped within MetaDoctor Pro using the built-in image editor. MetaDoctor Pro includes several additional advanced features. Metadoctor Pro can copy the metadata from another video file, a great feature for quickly adding metadata to a video file that has been edited in iMovie, for example when additional video footage is added. Chapters can be added at any desired interval using the chapter generate function. MetaDoctor Pro can also scan the video for scene cuts and automatically suggest chapter points. Cover art can be set from any frame of the video with one click. Batch mode feature allows editing of multiple files simultaneously. MetaDoctor Pro also includes TMDb lookup of metadata for your purchased content, and a web search capability for chapter titles. MetaDoctor Pro is an advanced multi-threaded application that takes advantage of multicore processing and the latest macOS technology to provide the highest level of performance. Multi-gigabyte video files are loaded and written nearly instantaneously.
Good function, awkward interface
I'm mostly using this to add chapter markers to a long (60 minute) video with many short segments. It works for this, but the interface is awkward. You normally create a chapter marker by positioning the playhead in the video preview window and clicking Add. The problem is getting precise position of the playhead in a long video. The only tool is to drag the playhead with the mouse and it is extremely difficult in a long video, the tiniest mouse movement jumps many seconds. The only way is to get somewhere close before, click Play, and pause at the position you want. This app ought to support the arrow keystrokes that QT Player has, to move the playhead by frames. Once you have created a chapter you can't change it. The only way to adjust the time code of a chapter is to delete the chapter mark and put in a new one. The app ought to allow one to edit the time code of a chapter mark with the keyboard and mouse. It also should allow editing all chapter markers, or a selected range of markers, by a fixed increment of time. In this way you could adjust for the deletion of one clip early in a video, and not have to re-make all the chapter markers just because the start of the video got shorter or longer by a few seconds.
generally good, but some problems
Metadata look up is fast. Getting it correct requires having a correct name in place, but that is a TMDB.org problem Although this program rewrites the file, it doesn't properly rename the file type for TV/iTunes-that has to be done manually. While I bought this app from the app store, when first trying to open a newly tagged file, I was told by the OS that the file was from an unnamed developer and should not be opened. So I had to fix that. Finally, the cover art is embedded within a regular video frame, rather functioning as an appropriately sized cover. I can fix that with another app. So while it will function as a replacement for IDentify, it has some problems
No MKV support
Would like the app more if I could edit tags in MKV files.
Good, but does not show or change the capture date
Seems capable, such as with batch jobs. But I got it hoping that it would fix the capture date on videos taken with my Pentax Q-S1, which records everything as 1/1/1970. Unfortunately, it does not show this. So Lightroom moves them all into 1 folder, 1/1/1970, regardless of what day they were actually recorded on. Photos also seems them as 1/1/1970, so does not display them with their photos. Hopefully developer will see this, update the app, and then I will update the review to 5 stars
So Glad I Found This!
With Apple's move to a different format for media thumbnails (portrait) I was looking for something that would enable me to change the covers on multiple DVD ripped series without having to change each one manually. Every other app I found wouldn't let me just change the cover without it messing up my metadata by adding comments of their own, etc. This app came in handy as it enabled me to change only the thumbnail from the square to a portrait with a simple paste and click for all the episodes in the series! And, it is fast as lightning. The only thing is that it doesn't seem to fetch Apple's portrait covers from IMDB or Apple. You can copy and paste them into the app, so that's good, but it would be better if it could do this on its own. Also, the covers area should be changed to portrait mode as it is confusing at first as it appears that it won't allow portraits. Regardless, the app came in handy and I would definitely recommend it.

Not at all helpfull,
Waste of money, cannot change the name of metadate in a bach.
Fix for issue where release date may not load correctly from file or TMDb. Will now search and load metadata from TMDb for season number 0 of TV series, if present. Improved editing of release date when multiple files are loaded (batch mode).
