Terrible App
I don’t understand how anyone gives this a positive review. Hard to connect to my Leica cameras and then the connection is typically not stable. Never managed to get it to work as a remote either…
No control for TL or CL
All manual controls are gone that previous apps had. For TL literally no ISO, Shutter, Aperture controls only what was last set on the camera with EV control. CL is similar. The previous apps had mostly full control on the CL and manual control options on the TL. Wi-Fi connection is better. The app takes care of the connection without having to go the iPad control panel and choosing the camera before connecting in the app.
Nice program, could be better
This has a lot of wonderful modern camera connection in it. I have had a complaint for years that high-end cameras do not have the connectivity or convenience of cell phone cameras. This does a lot to address it. The really cool parts are the remote feature which even lets you look at what the viewfinder is seeing. I highly approve. Less good is sheer connectivity. I would like automatic download from the camera into local and cloud storage. This is so much better than use in the past, and I hope for more and more features.
A complete disaster of an app
If this app actually worked as intended, it would be superb. Unfortunately the connectivity issues mean that it’s barely useable. Once you finally manage to get it to connect to your camera (after the 20th attempt, and after rebooting the iPad and the camera in turn, multiple times, and redownloading the app for the 5th time), it is inexplicably slow, with data transfer speeds that would have been laughable in the late nineties. If you want to transfer multiple photos (20 or more .dng’s) then make sure you don’t need the camera or the iPad for anything else for the next few hours. It connects via its own WiFi network so if you try and use another app on the iPad you’ll lose the connection. And sometimes it just randomly loses the connection anyway. If this happens, you won’t be able to reconnect to the camera until you’ve rebooted the camera and the iPad. In summary: this app is a complete disaster. Save your $50.
Keep being disconnected after recent update
The connection can't be established between the camera and my iPad. I didn't change any settings besides the recent app update. Basically the app became useless, and Leica is being really unreliable for my professional work. You really need "it just works" mind if you want to survive in this industry...
LEICA has listened.
When this first launched, I like so many loyal customers were so put off at having to purchase an app to get full functionality of our cameras, But after a year Leica has come to its senses and has listened to its customers. Thank you LECIA .. keep up the innovations.
No thanks
I’ll add the growing chorus of negative reviews on the pricing alone. Syncing with a mobile device is basic functionality, and there’s no way I’m paying $50 a year for that privilege. I have multiple Ms and lenses that cost thousands of dollars. Whoever came up with the business case to charge this exorbitant price should be terminated with extreme prejudice.
