Ghosting
I wound up going back to HDR Darkroom 2. While this new version does a nicer job of rendering, it is completly worthess for ghosting, 2 does a much better job of eliminating ghosts. Hopefully an update to 3 will take care of this problem.
When it’s good, useful. Crashes and Screwed up Customers
This was originally pitched on the App Store and delivered at the vendor’s web site at with the usual complicated activation etc. which no longer works - bad for me because I changed laptops and it can no longer be activated with the original data. I’m too fed up with the rigamorole to deal with it and it’s useful enough I downloaded through the App Store after paying again. (it’s been on my desktop as well). The program is useful - but it has more than a few glitches, not least the problem with crashes. It has an awkward interface for either opening in iPhoto (which I don’t use that much) or exporting — and it has had a fairly frequent lock up during the process. That said, it has some interesting looks and is frequently better at that than Photomatix (HDRSoft),. Photomatix offers more sophisticated approaches. This is good for the quick and easy where a fairly standard “look” from the investory works well.
maybe the best HDR in the store
i had used their previous HDR darkroom 2 and this new version is a big improvement. they have made it super easy to use and very focused, and the styles give me so many options that i can make any photo look great. i love that i can also save any combination of adjustments to use with future photos, so when i find something great i don’t have to remember it next time, i can just save it. keep up the good work!
Basic, Easy but Crashes often and too expensive
OVER priced application. Simple and easy to use. Crashes frequently even when it is the only application running (MacBook Pro, 16 GB ram, 250 GB SSD, OS X 10.9.1, i7 Core at 2.3 GHz). Improvements suggested: (1) Fix crashes; (2) Lower Price; (3) Enable Files to be added or removed from HDR set without having to create a new HDR; (4) Add File menu: File Open to reload .hdr file - yes, this can be dragged and dropped.
