Phone overheating, frequent stops
I like the features in this app, best combination I've found to listen to podcasts and keep a history, etc. But my phone started overheating and the The would shut down 15 to 20 seconds after the screen timeout (when the display automatically closes if untouched.). This started happening after an IOS update. The app is still brilliant on my iPad. I have written back and forth with the app author who was sympathetic, but couldn’t work on the issue because he could reproduce the symptoms I experience in my phone. I believe it’s part of the anti competitive actions that exist. No other app has these problems, but no other app suits my listening habits and needs. Rotten piece of, ahem, luck
Like the app, but
Woks pretty well, and I lie many of the features, like the scrolling timeline in the player page. I use this app on an iPad and iPhone. I’d like it if Incould share my subscription list to other devices, or even to other people. When I try to export it as an opml file that is a small text file (118 bytes) with only header information, it does not list the subscribed podcasts. I tried setting my profile to Public, but it always generates the same file, as follows: <?xml version="1.0"?><opml version="1.0"><head><title>PodTalk Podcast Subscriptions</title></head><body></body></opml>
The podcast catcher I have wanted
Its a social network of sorts built around podcasts. Connected to a really powerful podcast directory (listennotes.com). I made the switch a few days ago and have been very happy with the app. The developer is extremely talented and each update makes the app more usable. The social aspect feels good, and not creepy. This is something that is for folks who use podcasts to learn and want to have more than just listen and move on relationship with the podcasts. You can add notes and recordings pinned to the episode. The groups have extensive permissions so you can make it into whatever you need. A classroom could very easily use this for lectures. Love the app. Thanks for making it. A plus is that you can now export your listening history. The lack of that feature in another app is what got me to switch to podtalk. Its annoying to see data of yours, but know as soon as you stop using the app, its gone forever. Long live podtalk. Add a donate to developer button please.
Not ready for prime time
For starters, it has a very barebones player. It has the essentials, at least: able to adjust speed and a sleep timer. It's missing many features that make other, more established podcatchers the better choice, even among the new trend of 'social' podcast listening (like Breaker). I'm an Overcast user myself, but I always give new podcatchers a shot. This app should not be in v1.15. It really ought to still be in beta. Maybe an open beta, at this stage, but definitely not considered 'launched' with a v1. Just a few key features the app is missing: smart speed, voice boost (in-app EQ), auto-downloads, auto-cleanup, priority/custom sorting of podcasts, individual podcast playback settings, & RSS Feed adding (you're out of luck if you want to add a Patreon feed). It gets the two stars for having playlists and basic playback features off the bat. But I can't give it any more than that.
BEST Podcast App
I love this podcast app so much! I love how we can create communities within the app to discuss our favorite podcasts. It has changed my podcast listening experience!!
Great
Just installed it a few hours ago. So far I love it. Update... have had it for a few days now. Still working great. My only complaints thus far is the inability to have it auto download the newest episodes, and it does not have the ability to tell it to auto play the next episode or a way to have it play from oldest to newest. Will give more updates in the future.
