I just purchased a new boat that came with B&G chart plotter. I was told the this app would allow me to register all the equipment, which it did. I now find that it has much more. I was able to create routes by just selecting a start point and end point, and app figures all the waypoints between them. But the best part was the when I select the chart plotter from the app I can sync the app to the chart plotter and all the routes are transferred and stored in the chart plotter no need to copy anything.

I have B&G instruments on my boat and I’m quite happy with them but the app is terrible. I really tried to like it since it has world wide coverage but trying to download maps for offline use is the worst experience. I also have the Navionics app and the downloads work like a charm. On B&G I have selected 3 areas I wanted to have as offline maps and they just won’t download to my iPad. I get to 10 to 20 percent before the download stops. All this is on a super fast Fios connection. Given these results, it’s utterly unusable while on passage trying to update maps on a cell connection or public wifi. This is a problem since I first downloaded the app 2 years ago. I tried deinstalling and reinstalling with no change. Really disappointing and even support could not help me when I contacted them a year ago.

I really liked the idea to get ww coverage with the subscription and my B&G Zeus Chart Plotter. However the iPad subscription is absolutely useless. Trying to download offline maps is not working at all or taking forever as in days and this is not on a public wifi while cruising but on fiber while at home. In comparison Navionics works like a well oiled machine. I really had high hopes but it’s not worth the subscription money. I contacted support a year ago without resolution. I really hope this will be fixed in the future. Until then I’ll be using Navionics and Orca.

I really wanted this to work. Problems: - doesn’t synch from Zeus S to iPhone. After waiting 2 hrs to reach tech support, I was told that it will synch if both phone and Zeus are logged into a separate Wi-Fi system. Ug. - measure distance feature would be great but it is wildly inaccurate. It says the distance from San Francisco to Seattle is 3800 feet. -incredibly, the Create Route feature doesn’t let you creat a route from your waypoints. Instead you just pick start and destination points and it creates a computer generated route. Useless. - the weather forecast feature is sooo slow and doesn’t indicate which weather model or source data is used. Since you evidently have to be on a Wi-Fi network to use it, you’ have much better options on the internet.
