Automatic Silence Detection Doesn’t Work
The software developer claims an "automatic silence detection" feature will separate the tracks of an album. I ripped an album… the feature didn’t work; rather, it gave me one, large track, consisting of the entire side of the album. As well, when I went to flip the album over, to do side 2, I logically did a stop capture, as there is no pause feature. Caution: This will stop, and eliminate side 1. It will then restart, and rip side 2. This should be mentioned in the App’s help section... So…, I lost time (and the money I paid to the App Store) trying to use the app as advertised. When I clicked on the App’s help button, BTW, I found it is inaccurate and rudimentary, at best. It claims a “param” button is available, to set the amount of time for the seemingly non-existent “automatic silence detection” feature. FYI: There is NO param option. Going to their web site, via the “Vinly Ripper Support” link, in the App Store, there is no mention of this software, nor any support/help files; only support is for other software sold by the company. On the upside… it did create a mp3 of side 2 of my album, and the sound quality was acceptable. If the developer could be so kind as to add a pause feature, to allow for flipping the album, and make sure their “silence detection” feature and settings actually existed/worked, it would be a simple-to-use, decent App, which is all I wanted, and expected to be purchasing. I hope they issue fixes, so I can use the product I’ve paid for, and rip my albums. If they do, I’ll be happy to re-visit my review; until then, I can’t and won’t recommend this prodcut.
