A great app for beginners with enough depth for pros
This app is one of those rara avis apps: that rare find where the returns in using the app far exceed the cost. In this case, the app was free which added to the delight of playing around with it. SG Live also has enough depth to have a place in my phone's "really tiny studio "; it's flexible enough to make creating multi-layered sequences in down time in my day to provide me with something of substance to use with my usual music rig. This app is a delight !

Not bad, long in the tooth, missing some modern features. This version is targeted for live use, I would go for the other version unless that is your thing.

Import of own sounds. Export to SoundCloud. Saving of different sections. Awesome. In addition there are ASRD settings for each layer as well as modes and octave shifts. Even more awesome. For 3 bucks I wouldn't bother with rest.
United Statessound record doesnt work ! But its a pretty good app
Sound ( audio )recording doesnt work ! I have all the switched turned on to enable sound recording and play of sound recording in backgroud with music , but Nothing !!! This is not much better than the first sound grid which wasnt bad but not great either . And NO Manual ! on yet another itunes app !! If someone can resolve the record issue for me i might raise my rating . but for now just dissapointed with it . id give it a better rating if the sample sound i.e. mic sampeling actually worked , but it doesnt and needs to be fixed.

It's a good effort on the dev front, a few things are missing though. Playing with 16 step patterns is extremely limiting. Having to string together a 64+ step melody is tedious and kills the app for me. Using it with just 16 step patterns is repetitive, boring, and limits the use of this app to being pretty much useless for me. Advice: Increase the amount of steps per 'block' to at least 64. Add midi support via CCK. Some sort of clock sync would be great too.

Loved the original sound grid especially the Steinway patch, but ultimately deleted due to composition length limitations, and Steinway a little scratchy...lots of new features and more capability, same issue with Steinway but I rolled off the level and that helped
