No output sound, crashes with Focusrite
If I start up the app with my Focusrite Scarlet 2i4 plugged in, it crashes and stays at a black screen forever. Aside from that, there’s no way to control where to output sound. I want to use my iPad as a speaker but I’m only able to if I do not plug in an interface at all - which of course means it’s unusable as I would have to use the microphone and create interference. A waste of $10.
CONFIRMED: Doesn’t Work with Axe IO
I thought perhaps that the user review mentioning that AXE IO doesn’t work with maybe a problem with user error. I bought the app and and can confirm that it is indeed broken. The AXE IO does a couple of power cycles and then the app crashes. When I disconnect the I it opens up just fine.
Why hasn’t the Devs at Aurora DSP allow Rhino on the “Mac” store
Why can’t Aurora DSP release their AMAZING IOS “Rhino” amp sim app on the “MAC” AppStore? It is a simple check mark on the developers side to ADD this app to 1: IOS iPhone (check) 2: iOS iPad (check) 3: iOS Silicon M1-M2 chip Mac (NOT CHECKED) Why not just check that for M1-M2 users! Because when working on my 2024 iPad Pro, and then if I jump to my MacBook Pro M2 …I have NO Rhino in my plugin list! So it gives me a pop up that says “Rhino is not available for Logic Pro X” So I have to find a plugin to match. I have to use something that I don’t want to, so WHY not release the Rhino app? So with Apple releasing the new silicon chip, making a laptop “MacBook pro” have not only the capabilities of a normal laptop but the M1-M2 chip allows the laptop to use ALL THE APPS from the App Store that our iPad and iPhone IOS uses!!! This takes music production to a WHOLE NEW level… Three things in any product model is: Need Access Cost Apple has hit all the markets and checks all the boxes! Access and ease of use, as well as cost has made the APP STORE the number one place shopped! Even more than the grocery store! Apps are very inexpensive compared to their “software” counterparts! Is this why Aurora hasn’t checked the box to allow the app to be used on the M1-M2 AppStore? Is it that the Aurora DSP developers think they will lose money if they allow the M1-M2 users to use the “Same” app from the App Store? If so that sucks… and is a torn off! The love I have for Rhino amp simulator makes me NOT WANT TO USE any other “Amp Simulator” but pushes me to make a decision to use ANOTHER amp! Ugh!!! Please allow the Rhino app to be released to the MAC App Store!!!
Too bad..
Was really digging the massive sounds…now Rhino will not load in Garage band…it worked ok for a couple weeks. Now strangely dead on iphone 8 and ipad mini. How could it become unstable and stop altogether? Bizzare. The developers support link from app store is a blank page. Consider this a refund request…please direct me on how to process.
Latency
When I use this app as a AUv3 in AUM there is no noticeable latency. When I use this app,as a standalone the latency is horrible.
Sounds great but au is not usable
The app itself using alone sounds good and has alot of great features. Unfortunately it cannot be used as an AU with logic on ipad because of the plugin window hides half the controls with no way to access them.
Outrageously good
Almost flawless. The sound is incredible. I’ve been playing amp sims since around 2006 and this sounds as good ANY for any type of tone. All the thick, musical, physical personality of tubes with the flexibility and rounded performance of a forward-thinking software interface and design language. Forget all that crap about fake knobs and cork sniffing and recombobulator emulators; this software says and does what it means. Clean tones sing like angelic bells, dirty tones break apart like their holy voices raising impossible jubilee, distorted tones explode in passion like their banishment to a universe endless flame, and you are given the ineffable control over this chorus of their infinite master. You get so much stuff and it is all good. 4 amp sims, a bunch of effects, and every meaningful guitar sound you can think up. Each control is a tome of untold wonders. Everything is deep and musical and intentional. I’m not much of a knob turner, but you can get lost in all of this in the best way possible. If I had to come up with flaws: some of the buttons can be too small on my iPhone (the smallest iPhone), and it lacks a few more modern features such as synthesizer emulators and extensibility. What you see is what you get, but what you get is flexible and excellent. That’s nitpicking, though. This is my desert island amplifier. The kind of musical instrument that you develop affection for. I’ve paid more for a single IK soft stomp box. Any guitarist could enjoy this, and for me it’s among the best I’ve tried.
