polybeat is an advanced and extremely flexible drum and percussion sequencer able to generate complex polyrhythmic and polymetric rhythmic patterns. nb: polybeat does not make sound by itself, you will need to load it in an AUv3-compatible host (such as AUM, Audiobus, ApeMatrix, Nanostudio 2, etc.) or connect it to an external drum machine, synthesizer, computer or any other sound generating device. features: - independently configurable sequence length per drum voice (ranging from 1 to 32 steps) - independently configurable step length per drum voice (ranging from double whole notes to 64th notes, including tuplets and dotted notes) - every sequencer step can be modulated by the following attributes: - accent on/off - ratchet (note repeats) - skip (note every *n* loops) - chance - timing offset - sample-accurate sequencing engine - slick and responsive native UI - undo/redo - individual drum voices can be muted or solo'ed - sequences can be instantly transformed by the following actions: - shift left/right - rotate - randomize - mirror - reverse - double - bisect - full AUv3 preset- and state-saving - ability to copy and paste patterns between instances of the plugin - mapping presets for popular AUv3 drum apps and hardware drum machines - includes musical scale presets for polybeat to be used as a melodic sequencer - responds to MIDI input for switching and selecting patterns, as well as performing pattern transformations - works offline - no push notifications - no ads or in-app purchases - no third-party behavioural tracking tools ongoing development and support, many new features on the roadmap
An amazing polyrhythmic sequencer
This sequencer is amazing! Easy to use, and very reliable. The ability to change individual step lengths in a drum lane is outstanding. The interface is easy on the eyes and great to look at. My only concern noticing that the last update was a year ago is hoping this app will continue to work well into the future with updates. Additionally, I would love to see proper screen resizing so I can see 32 steps or more. :)
It’s okay
Having to go through forum posts from a couple years ago to find a screenshot of the part of the manual I needed to see makes for a bad experience. It seems the manual page has been a 404 for a long time.
Good but
Great sequencer, but in AUM, if I extend past 16 beats, it clips the sound on beat 17 every single time (using both FAC Drumkit and Koala). Would be great to have a couple more assignable CCs as well. Otherwise perfect.
Crashes constantly
This app is functionally pretty cool except for the fact that it constantly crashes when hosted in AUM, making it useless for live performance. It also lacks a way to change patterns through external midi control. Fortunately I’ve found Rozeta Sequencer Suite gets both those birds stoned without any issues. Wish I would have known before spending money on this one though.

crashes all the time
Gave this app a long time to get into my workflow but a constantly crashing app, no matter how good while working, is useless. please guys. you know how to do.
Not as polyrhythm-capable as I’d hoped
From what little I’ve used it this seems like an excellent app for what it does, and is fantastic for polymeters. For polyrhythms though, it was not very straightforward or intuitive for me - you have to program the step lengths based on music notation (whole note, quarter note, tuplets, etc.) and the number of steps to get things to line up as a true polyrhythm. For me it would be much more intuitive to have different modes for each row, where one matches up with the default timing, no matter the number of steps (allowing for polyrhythms) and for the other the step size stays the same as default (allowing for polymeters). Patterning 2 seems to have implemented something like this, as well as the Pyramid hardware sequencer.
- fixes selection bug in iOS 14 - collapsible modulation panel - undo/redo - audition sound on selecting track - tap & hold slider to set exact value - adds correct sample offset for MIDI note-offs - tip jar - various bugfixes and small improvements
