Crank It for Denon & Marantz allows you to control compatible Denon & Marantz receivers. Designed for maximum responsiveness, this app was made because sometimes you need to change the volume of your receiver really precisely, but also really FAST. This app can: - change the volume (slide up/down anywhere on the screen, or use a preset) - change the input source (ie. switch from DVD to TV) - change the MultiEQ setting (ie. turn off Audyssey) - toggle mute - power the main zone & zone 2 on or off This app supports only receivers made by Denon & Marantz that have an IP address, and are listening on port 23. In practice this translates to receivers made from roughly 2013 onwards. Although this app has functionality designed to prevent you from accidentally turning your receiver up too loud, no software is perfect: by using this app you assume all responsibility for the volume levels & other functions set on your receiver, including those set by this app.
Multizone?
App says it does multizone. Downloaded it. Doesn’t do multizone. Delete. 1 star.
Doesn’t connect using iPads
Works using iPhone. On iPads, the app finds the Denon stereo but doesn’t connect on iOS 16.3.1 (iPad Pro). It used to work on iPad Air iOS 12.5.7, but not anymore. Doesn’t work inputting IP address either. ISSUE RESOLVED: I needed to be on the same WiFi as the Denon Receiver for the iPads to connect to it.
Worked, but no zone control
Worked immediately and picked up my denon avr-s750, which the denon app could not! But I was hoping for zone control so I could use it for controlling my outside speakers on zone 2.
Denon should hire this guy to make their app
Simple, and much more useful than the confusing, and unreliable Denon app. Once a receiver is setup, people want to change the source, and volume, quickly and reliably. This accomplishes that in a very intuitive and creative way. D&M should hire the developer to fix their failed remote control app. On top of that, I would have paid $5.00 for a good remote like this that works well, and the developer gives it away to the world, ad-free. Thank you sir!!! Now, a nice feature to add would be to have the ability to make a widget or Siri command that you can one click turn on the receiver and change to a specific input (Sonos Port users anyone?). Maybe a premium feature offering someday, or in-app purchase?? A guy can only hope so. Either way, great work!
This app rocks
Thanks so much for putting this together. Since Denon hasn’t updated their remote app supporting older receivers like my AVR-X3000, I’ve lost network control of it. What’s worse, while that app allows you to manually specify an IP address, it doesn’t work across VLANs. Even before I put the receiver on a separate VLAN, their app worked rather poorly with constantly forgetting the receiver and not being able to find it again without uninstalling and reinstalling. This app works perfectly. It scanned my network and of course didn’t find the receiver because it’s on my IoT VLAN, but quickly prompted for an IP address which I provided. Immediately was able to power on and control my X3000. Fantastic! Why Denon can’t seem to figure out how to make a decent and supported app is beyond me.
Better app than manufacturer still some issues
Definitely a better control than what Denon provides for my older AVR. I do have an issue where the app will show the volume but is still in the connecting phase not letting me alter anything. I was also wondering if there was a way to set a custom limit as I am concerned it would still be too high.
Not working for me
If I Airplay music from my phone, as soon as This app launches, Airplay goes to pause. Had to delete it and just use the Denon app.
faster to start, faster when app is coming from background- Fix volume buttons not working when app is in the foreground if you disabled audio - Do you have multiple receivers? Now you can now go back to the discovery screen when the connected receiver is powered off, and choose to select from already discovered receivers before discovery runs again
