BodyBeat metronome app by Peterson - makers of the BodyBeat Sync vibrating metronome! The BodyBeat metronome is a powerful tool to utilize during your rehearsal sessions due to its versatility and easy-to-access controls. Quickly change tempo or subdivisions with just a few taps. Create user preset play patterns for instant recall during a session or organize them into a playlist for advanced practices. Choose from 7 different sounds to hear the beat or use the BodyBeat Pulse Solo accessory (available from Peterson) to FEEL THE BEAT complete with accents from the vibrating clip that can be worn. This allows you to concentrate the vibe where you need it and, unlike other apps that vibrate your phone/tablet, your screen is readily available so you can still make changes easily.
Doesn’t play in the background
It’s a good metronome but it doesn’t play in the background. So I can’t read a piece of music elsewhere on the iPad while this is keeping time. Seems like a natural thing for it to do.
So much potential...
The device is quality, the app needs work. In the rhythm editor let us assign a different rhythm to each of the three symbols OR each beat so we can construct syncopated rhythms. Also get rid of some of the extra visuals. This is a metronome, not a space flight sim.
Really Helpful Tool
Really liking the bodybeat pulse. Tried the soundbrenner as well, thought the bodybeat had a much better feel and really appreciated the different kinds of vibrations for accents. Like the app for this as well with the exception of a couple minor things that were overlooked in development. First being the app doesn’t rotate. The issue with that is I connect the bodybeat pulse to the lightning port on the bottom of the phone. So, I have to place the phone upside on my music stand. The app is now upside-down because it doesn’t rotate. The second thing is it doesn’t override the display auto-lock (like when you watch a video). I do also like having the visual indicator while I get used to this (and using a metronome in general… side note: this definitely seems better then audio ones for me). In order to keep the screen going I have to temporarily manually change the screen lock out to never in the display settings. Wish it auto did this like other metronome apps i’ve tried (or at least have a settings preference for this in the app itself). These two things that were overlooked I’m sure can be easily remedied in a future update and are not so detrimental that it causes me to not use this. I still really like the bodybeat pulse and this app a lot and find it very helpful while I try to build my skills.
