Major Bugs Ignored
Crashes on every exit, hangs on every reload. The anxiety of an impending crash makes it intolerable. Such a waste. Incremental updates omit major issues. I’ve had this now for what seems like forever...it was never a solid performer, only a tease. The latest update got me to try yet again. Same story. Too many other apps passing this one up. If any other dev implements elastic audio and subs you have no need for this aggravation. (Cubasis, nudge, nudge. Zenbeats, wink, wink.)

I’ve had this since its first release and have walked away from it many times in frustration. And it still happens, lol. But...there are some things this app does that when you really need them they are quite impressive. MIDI is best edited in a way that is different from most iOS DAWs. It is not really touch friendly but rather more like a windows app. Note selection can be done with the vertical keyboard to the left of the edit window easier at times than trying to touch select notes. The touch state is Add Note by default that can litter your MIDI track with spurious notes if you’re not careful. BUT! There are deep MIDI editing capabilities like humanize, crescendo, velocity constraint, and more that other DAWS do not have. AUDIO in Auria can also be Warped and Quantized! As far as I know, no other iOS DAW does this as smoothly and intricately and with as high a quality as Auria. The wave file literally becomes like putty. There is a powerful Lyra sampler built in. IN GENERAL: Long time owners who have turned away may want to take another look. New buyers? Well, if you really want some of the features I mentioned...you might go for it. Given the price it is a bit of a gamble. This review is for the upgraded LE to Pro. Note to the developer. Don’t give up.

As of this writing I have spent a good deal of time with every popular DAW for iOS. This is a front runner, not without its flaws, but a contender. Audio time shifting is nice, sub groups, automation, channel effects...all good. MIDI editing is pretty good, the MIDI effects are really nice (compression, humanizing, and time shifting). You can’t build a MIDI track while looping. It has a strong punch-in function. Multi-IO hardware support. The audio and MIDI scrubbing is virtually useless. Support is mediocre, they have taken to not listing bug fixes in their updates but referring you to a forum post. One might get the sense WML is losing its love for Auria. Again though, one of the best...pricy, but good.
United StatesConvenient Optimized Alternative to Desktop Production
I’ve followed the internal upgrade path and use the latest version of Auria Pro with all FabFilter synths and effects. I own basically every major music app and DAW but each time I try to use an alternative to AP, I immediately miss the CPU-optimized efficiency of both the FabFilter plugins when hosted through AP, and the deep multisampled EX24/SFZ acoustic instruments in Lyra. With the recent update allowing fast, convenient, intuitive chaining of midi au (including the Atom piano roll) there is nothing that bears fair comparison to the musical experience and control AP offers on iPad.

I have this app and I have purchased upgrade to pro. Audiobus not working. It will not accept tracks in the input matrix coming from audiobus. This was working just a couple weeks ago. Please fix. Inter-app audio also not available.

I'm amazed at what can be done on an iPad. Kudos to the dev on the most ambitious app I've used (and I've used a lot!). I can't review Auria Pro, since I received a promo code for it, but I do have it, and I'm blown away with how well midi was implemented and how well it works on a mini 2 and iPad4. The plug-ins are top shelf, as is the dev who must not need sleep, given the time and effort he's put into this.
