The legendary ARP sound, exquisitely reproduced in software. ARP ODYSSEi - A mobile analog synthesizer for iOS. The ARP Odyssey of 1972 has earned an unshakable position as a classic analog synthesizer. In 2015, KORG produced the ARP ODYSSEY, a complete reproduction of the original. The ARP genes that shook the worldwide music scene are being passed on, and its history continues. The next platform for the ARP ODYSSEY is iOS. We want the unforgettable ARP sound to be easily available on a device that as many as possible of today's players can obtain; this resulted in the "ARP ODYSSEi" app for iPad / iPhone. Based on the revived ARP ODYSSEY, we used KORG's proprietary CMT circuit modeling technology to reproduce the analog feeling and sound of the original as closely as possible. We've also given it numerous enhancements that are possible only with software, such as long-awaited polyphony and built-in effects. The real analog ARP ODYSSEY, and now the uniquely evolved ARP ODYSSEi, brings the universal fascination and inimitable sound to every device. * Due to differences in CPU speed of iPads / iPhones, iPad 3rd gen/2/iPad mini/iPhone 4s are not supported, only iPad Air/iPhone 5s or later is recommended. [ Features ] - Faithfully models the circuit of the ARP ODYSSEY: The circuitry has been reproduced using KORG's proprietary CMT (Component Modeling Technology), developed over the years starting with the KORG Legacy Collection. - New functions to create all-new ARP sounds: Added a voice assign mode that allows you to play chords, an arpeggiator that can be programmed in detail like a step sequencer, and effects that can transform the sound in diverse ways. - Get all three of the sought-after revisions: In addition to the standard design of the Rev3 with its black panel and orange silk-screening, you can optionally obtain the white-paneled Rev1 and the black-paneled gold silk-screened Rev2 designs, together with fifty new preset sounds that take advantage of the distinctive filters of those models. - Produce music together with KORG Gadget: ARP ODYSSEi can be used in conjunction with the "KORG Gadget" music production DAW app that has won numerous awards around the world. If both apps are installed, it can be used as the "Lexington" gadget inside the KORG Gadget app. More info at korg.com
FANTASTIC, But…
The ARP Odyssey was my first synth, back in 1978. As someone who had the original hardware, and used it for many years, I can report that this thing sounds great. All the switches and sliders do what they’re supposed to, and the bits that KORG added (effects & sequencer) are fabulous. But there are some serious problems, which I have requested fixes for, and have never been addressed. #1: the EQUAL/ANALOG switch. This has no business being there at all; all the ANALOG setting does is simulate an out-of-calibration Odyssey. This is not “the unique character of the Odyssey”, it’s a flaw, which I spent considerable $$ to keep in adjustment while I had my Odyssey. In itself, this is not a problem; I just leave that switch on EQUAL. But that switch does not exist in the Lexington gadget, and it is locked into the ANALOG mode, with the result that any 2-oscillator sounds are progressively more out of tune the further you get from the center of the keyboard. #2: NO MIDI Program change capability. #3 NO AUv3 capability. If this stuff ever gets fixed, I’ll change my rating to 5 stars immediately. In the meantime I’ll try to make do. It still sounds fantastic… UPDATE 4/3/2024: We just got the AUv3 update for Korg’s iM1, which is fantastic, and I am hopeful the ARP ODYSSEi will also get this update soon. Also hopefully my other issues mentioned above will be fixed. In the meantime, the ARP ODYSSEi is still a brilliant recreation of my all-time favorite synthesizer; I’m looking forward to using it much more, both within Gadget, and as an AUv3. Thanks, Korg!!!
AUv3 Support Needed
Love the sound of the ARP ODYSSEi with it’s faithful re-creation of the ARP SEQUENCER but it’s high time KORG gives this beauty AUv3 support so we can plug it into a real DAW.
Y’all gonna AUv3 this library of toy apps or like whadup?
Korg, there are independent players that do a better job of designing apps on iOS than you do - honestly this is kind of embarrassing. I love these apps but it’s 2024 practically - ain’t no way I’m not gonna complain about the obsolete state of audio transmission that these substantially expensive apps have. Sorry, but if you’re looking for a serious synth this is probably not the best one to start with - unless you really want this specific korg model. No AUv3 support = not a serious app for musicians. Sorry, but it’s literally the truth.
need some more functions
Still waiting for MIDI Learn function
Too good a synth not to be coded AUv3
One of the best emulations out there. It’s time to make it compatible with the new DAWs coming on line that are turning iPad into serious music recording/production equipment.
best ipad synth, & i have them all
my band uses this on several songs live and in studio. nuff said
NO AUv3 SUPPORT
Come on Korg this is ridiculous!!!! It’s been how many years now? I deleted Gadget because this. Gadget was born on iOS yet you give the flexibility to desktop only. I never bought the desktop version because of your shady business dealings on iOS. I spent over $200 on your iOS products. To access gadgets on desktop, to put in your personal daw, is $200. Over it.
Improved app stability.
