Great iPhone version with warm tones and sequences

There's always the risk with buying these "little brother" versions of iPad synths that the developer will neglect the iPhone version. But I like phone apps for portability (and they are often 1/3 the price). Also since this app has Virtual MIDI, you can control it with your favorite pad/chord/scale MIDI app. Still, I found the selection of scales/modes fun to control within the app. The sounds out of Addictive microSynth are some of my favorite synth sounds on iPhone. I'm no pro at designing synth sounds from scratch, so it was nice to find presets that sounded full, warm, and musical as opposed to the collection of weird avant garde presets that populate other synths. Even the 4-track looper, which I usually ignore in favor of a DAW, was convenient enough to make me want to use it. You can create loops with 2-4 layers and then playback through AB into your recording software. It's a great synth for a very fair price.

AWESOME APP!!!!

I really LOVE the synth. The only wish for Micro version is to have it on Inter-App Audio as the ''big brother'' is now. Thanks in advance! :D

Porky

Really great synth but 2 things its lacking is a click when you're recording I had to creat my own with a simple patch, and the biggest and most important feature that its missing is a. + & - buttons on the tempo because setting up the right BPM with the dial is almost impossible but other than that its a great app with an almost Waldorf sound to it. Please ad these 2 features on your next update and it would be 6 star app!

No output through headphones!

This sounds great. The problem(bug) is when connected to akai synthstation you get no output through the akai headphone out. Only the RCA put out level. What's up with that?

Could be the Best iPhone synth available eventually

Update: I have to lower my rating because core midi is not working. I have tested extensively and found that core midi does not work at all. Without question Addictive micro is my favorite iPhone synth. I have been using addictive synth for iPad since release day and was surprised recently to find a mini version of addictive synth because of the huge array of parameters that would have to be squeezed into an iPhone screen. I am baffled by the engineering involved in squeezing all these amazing features into such a small space. I have read that addictive micro has all the features of the iPad version, I would say that is not true. But it has basically all the features that count. Micro is missing the random/dice button on several parameters that are available on the iPad version. Although I don't really miss them on the iPhone version. I will also say the sound seems like its noticeably of less quality on the micro version compared to the iPad version. The iPhone version of addictive is missing the x y pad and virsyn has tried to incorporate the x y into the keyboard... this does not really work out for me because I am forced to choose between controlling a pitchbend or other parameters I would normally control with the x y pad. A couple of things I thing addictive micro is missing: -A manual. I'm sure a manual is coming but it leads me to my next missing item. -A hold button. Trying to hold a note while tweaking parameters that are spread out over 6 pages is very inconvenient. Yes there is the arp, but a hold button really seems like a necessity to me. It may have a hold button but if it does I cannot find it with no manual to check. I tried to contact virsyn but I cannot find support on the site or on the iTunes page.😞 -Virtual midi. This goes for the iPad version also, I am really feeling the lack of virtual midi after extensively using Sunriser, animoog, and NLog for a while now. Addictive synth is a fantastic sounding synth, but the arppegiator does not replace a sequencer with virtual midi for my uses. -need a better audio copy board. If you hit record a second time after recording something great, you will loose it and have no way of getting it back. The existence of audio copy is fantastic but I think it needs to be expanded. I'm not holding the lack of virtual midi against virsyn because they (as far as I know) have not claimed any plans for virtual midi, but between lack of a hold button and lack of support link is something I think addictive micro should loose a half star for. There is some serious competition for synth apps lately and addictive microSynth blows all the pocket sized synths away. In a climate where the animoog breaks out at .99$, it's near impossible to impress analogue synth fanatics. Addictive micro does what many others have only scratched the surface of (not to name names). I am a huge fan of addictive and now addictive micro and am looking forward to updates from virsyn.
