*** This is the AC-7 Core version suitable for first generation iPads. If you have an iPad 2 or newer, our newer iOS6-only app "AC-7 Core HD" would be a better choice. *** IOS 5 and 6 tested and working. Make sure your network MIDI settings are correct like the screenshot below. The AC7-Core is a wireless/wired control surface utilizing CoreMIDI for simple setup and reliable operation. There are dedicated modes for controlling: Apple's Logic Pro Tools MOTU's Digital Performer (v6.02 upwards) Cubase/Nuendo Cakewalk Sonar Reaper Ableton Live Propellerhead Reason/Record Sony Vegas/Acid Pro FruityLoops Studio Presonus Studio One Adobe Audition Mackie Tracktion Final Cut Pro Other software which supports the Mackie Control protocol will work with the "Generic Mode" Works without additional server software on OS X "Tiger" and above. Also works on Windows XP, Vista, And 7 with solutions such as Tobias Erichsen's "rtpMIDI" driver.
Did not work for me on iPad 2
Could be user ignorance, but I could not make it work for Sonar 8.5 on Windows 10 64 bit.
Sorta works on Cubase Le 6
Works ok I guess. Most things function. No feedback (lights) on the switches, time base or sliders. DAW Controller is cheaper and works much better. Jog wheel on this one is very jumpy.
Slow get running, but very solid and worth the price
I admit that I, like a lot of other reviewers, found it difficult to get the app running with my computer. The instructions maybe could have been a bit clearer, or more complete. Regardless, once I got it started, it worked like a charm. Not only is it super useful in mixing, it just feels nice to be using a separate device for controlling. I’m a bit confused as to why some people complained about lag. I have yet to detect even a split second on lag in the app.
Very nice interface.
Nice. I wish all the bank buttons were next to each other instaed of flanking the transport. And the locaton buttonswere on the screen. But really, all in all a nice package. As far as set up goes, it was a bit of investigation to find out you need the rtpMIDI to set it up.
Allows freedom from the desk
If you want a basic app for allowing freedom from the desktop controls, this works great. Running Pro Tools 10... works flawlessly once set up via midi section on MAC and peripherals dialog box in PT10. Lots of set up help available online, no reason to shy away from the benefits that it provides. Worth it!
Doesn't work with Logic
This app doesn't work with recent versions of Logic. It hasn't been updated in almost a year. Their support site is awash with people with questions with nary a reply from the developer. I'm guessing all the positive reviews are from shills. Avoid this app. Get TouchOSC instead.
Works good with Sonar 7
Worked good with Sonar 7. AC7-Core mini on iPod Touch also worked good. Thanks for a great remote control apps for Sonar. Cakewalk is horrible at keeping their control surface dlls up to date so wouldn't be surprised if later versions have trouble. Need to set up control surface in Sonar as Mackie Control that uses virtual RPT MIDI ports. My guess is some people may have difficulty getting it to work because of their network configuration?
