Description
Visualize the skin damaging and aging effects of ultraviolet light.

UVScan is designed to visualize the damage and aging effects of ultraviolet light on your skin by analyzing photos from your iPhone's or iPod's photo library or integrated camera.

Excessive exposure to sunlight and tanning booths can lead to premature skin aging and chronic skin damage, which may result in skin cancer. These damaging effects can be alleviated by staying in the shade, wearing light clothing, or by using sunscreen.

UVScan visualizes the damaged part of the skin as darker areas. Smaller wrinkles in the facial area, which are indicative of prematurly aged skin due to uv exposure, are easy to spot in the same way. The analysis works best about 24 to 48 hours after intensive exposure.

The analysis relies on images taken under good lighting conditions, without extreme dark or bright spots. For best results with an iPhone 4, use images taken with a distance of roughly 4 inches (10 centimeters). Shots of the cheek and nose should be taken from the side, while shots of the forehead should be taken directly facing the area to analyze. The integrated flash light of the iPhone 4 will further enhance the quality of the analysis.

UVScan resulted in a 2004 scientific paper:

A Joke

Not worth it. Just a joke. Not of any professional usefulness

Worthless

This app is worthless. Don't waste your money. It's like it just takes a picture and makes it greyscale. I don't believe it shows sun damage at all.

Not just a BW filter

People who are saying this is just a black and white filter are wrong. The dev team is basically cycling through all the pixels in the image and finding edges in pixels values then flagging them as distinctive features. BW filter would have made my skin white on the plains of my face not dark or spotted. This app indeed is picking up on the differences between my skin pixels and it actually did show me the most damaged part of my head and shoulders (dƩcolletage) as extremely damaged. In the original image it showed up clear and flawless.

Don't buy

My idiot friend told me to buy this. I'm now suing him for $2.99. This app is as useless as my friend.

Ugh! THIS IS ALL A LIE PEOPLE!

I bought this for $2.99 and now after I read the reviews I realized this was a lie. At school, I learned that glass and sunscreen are suppose to show up as black, but they don't. So basically this is just a black and white filter. Ugh! Should've read the reviews first šŸ˜ šŸ˜”!

bogus

This doesn't show sun damage. It's a black and white filter. The people who invented this are either morons or crooks. Probably both. Both glass and sunscreen should show up as black and they didn't on here. I wish I would have seen the reviews. I only saw that it had "no ratings" which lead me to believe that no one had written a review. It was until after I purchased this and went to write a negative review did I see the other negative reviews. I have never rated or reviewed an app before, FYI. This is bs.

Terrible!

This app is a total rip off! It is not a uv camera as uv cameras pick sunblock up as black. This is just a back and white filter. Would give 0 stars
