SmallTalk Phonemes is a speech exercise video app. It is designed to help anyone who has suffered a stroke or a traumatic brain injury and presents with aphasia, apraxia, and/or dysarthria. It can also be used by individuals who present similar language impairments. The series of individual speech-exercise videos shows the tongue and lip movements necessary to produce phonemes in the English language like “g” or “f”. You can easily rearrange the order of the videos or remove others to make it simpler to focus on key phonemes. Repeat each exercise as often as you would like. Then, reset the app to return to original settings. Disappointed
The app works well but the videos for some of the sounds include a schwa sound after the phoneme. “Buh” for /b/ and “duh” for /d/ etc. I wish these had been produced without the schwa.
Great
Recent update fixed the glitches! Lingraphica apps are great for patients with aphasia or a multitude of speech disorders. Their tech support is amazing. And if your patient has long standing communication issues, you should try a communication device. They will let you try them at no cost (unbelievable but true). I’ve had patient’s speech improve just by using the device but also it’s a great AAC device for adults.
Stopped working?
Was fine with previous version, new one doesn’t even get to the list of phonemes...
Glitchy!!
Everytime I click a sound, the app immediately crashes.. can't view any videos either. Please fix!
Glitchy
App closes after each phoneme video. Otherwise love the program. Would like some CV, CVC, CVCV progression
Please update
Since Apple has updated the os, the app is super glitchy. Please make them compatible
Excellent
I use this with my grandchild as does her speech therapist. It had an early bug but now works perfectly. Thank you
