EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) was developed by Francine Shapiro, Ph.D. to treat the effects of traumatic experiences such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Acute Stress Disorder as well as to address contributing factors in a wide range of other disorders and psychiatric issues.
