*** As featured on AuntMinnie.com *** "I have seen a substantial improvement in my trainees’ intuitive understanding of how MRI works since adding use of the App to my lecture series.” - J. Karis, MD. This app helps you discover the secrets of 'k-space', the mysterious space that Radiologists and Radiographers need to be familiar with in order to understand the principles of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). When you are a lecturer or a teacher, this app will be an indispensable tool for explaining the concepts of k-space to your students. "A k-Space Odyssey" allows you to play interactively with various MRI scan parameters and shows you, with blazingly fast real-time performance, the effect on the acquired clinical image. This app not only gives you intuitive hands-on experience with Half Scan, Partial Field-Of-View, Voxel Size and Hanning filters, but also covers advanced imaging techniques such as Turbo Imaging, Parallel Imaging, real-time Spiral Imaging, Compressed Sensing and Dynamic Contrast MRA (with real-time interactive Keyhole Imaging). The camera plug-in allows you to use any picture in your iPhone's Photo Album and manipulate them as if they were acquired with an MR scanner. You can take pictures from text books or straight from the console of any MR scanner, or load geometric pictures (concentric triangles, snow crystals, spirals) to get a profound understanding of the amazing properties of k-space. The app includes an extensive, interactive user manual that explains all scan parameters in simple wording, but with sufficient detail to quickly find your way home from anywhere in k-space. Always seek a doctor’s advice in addition to using this app and before making any medical decisions.
Awesome Training Tool
Nice job Eltjo John Pitts
Great teaching tool!
This is a wonderful app that helps residents and fellows develop an intuitive feel for k-space. I follow-up my lectures on phase and frequency encoding with an introduction of the App. We run the App on my iPad or iPhone and project the display using AppleTV. We then discuss, and get immediate visual feedback, on how multiple different k-space scenarios impact image quality. Since adding use of the App to my MRI lecture series I have seen a significant improvement in my residents and fellows understanding of how MRI works. I strongly encourage MRI technologists as well as radiology residents and fellows to download the App and utilize it as a tool to improve their ability to help our patients.
Compatibility upgrade for the latest generation of iPhones.
