Description
The Photo Cookbook is like a private cooking course in your own kitchen with an experienced cook, who clarifies the preparation. Beautiful photography illustrates every step.

Every recipe starts with a photograph of all the ingredients. This is more than just a pretty picture or – even less helpful – a montage that is not to scale, so that a chili appears to be the same size as a whole fish. Instead, it serves as a handy way of checking that you have everything ready before you start cooking.

Each short and straightforward step is clearly explained without any jargon or difficult technical terms. What you see in the photograph is what you should expect to see in front of you. Not only is this reassuring for the novice cook, those with more experience will find it a helpful reminder of the little touches that can easily be overlooked. Each recipe ends with a lovely photograph of the finished dish, complete with any serving suggestions.

The app includes 240 recipes, divided into four topics: “Quick & Easy”, “Italian”, “Asian” and “Baking” (60 recipes each).

Features:
- 240 recipes in four topics
- over 2,000 high-resolution photographs
- all recipes are easy to prepare
- all recipes displayed in professional step-by-step photographs
- search function for ingredients and recipes
- ingredient lists can be emailed
- ingredients provided with consumer information (retrieved with a click on the relevant ingredient)

The contents of this app can also be found in a book series by Parragon Books.

Dissapointed

I’ve purchased ipad and iphone versions of all your products and have loved them. Really these things have really helped me learn to cook. For some reason though the pictures on the computer app on the home screen or whatever of the app has no pictures/recipe thumbnails so I’m completely unable to choose a recipe or browse properly. I understand this is probably a weird glitch. Please get it sorted out soon. Then I’ll definitely give it a 5 star rating. Also there should really be an option for unit conversion. If I’m working with cups and teaspoons I’d really rather not be given instructions using ounces and all that. Thanks.

Need update for Yosemite

Seems to have a compatibility issue with OSX Yosemite. I’m running OSX 10.10.1 and after launching the app, the columns of dish images are all black and only the scroll bars are visible. However clicking in the area does bring me to the receipts, so I think it’s just the problem with rendering those images?

Disapointed cook book

I was disappointed in this Apps i was hoping to add my own recipe with my photos that would help new cooks like me remember the easy steps.

Great for those who love to explore new recipes!

I am always looking for new recipes to try and this cookbook is perfect! The recipes are a step above the normal betty crocker recipes. Also, the photos are superb and look stunning. It breaks down the recipe into great steps and gives you information about the ingredientes when you click on them in the ingredient list photo. The program opens fast and looks great. It is so worth the $16.

Where is the nutrition guide?

I must closely monitor calories and nutrients. This app is of no real use to me. Pretty pictures, but I'll find another cookbook. If you care about your health, buy another cookbook. There are plenty of them out there for sale.

Excellent interface and human factors

This app is perfectly simplistic. What I like most about it is that the recipes are more unique meals that I have wanted to learn for a long time now. You just spin the wheel to the meal you want. Click it's cell containing the photo and name. Then you will see a very clear step-by-step instruction. I think the designers wanted to keep this as elegant as possible, so you won't get a lot of additional information. In a way, I like that just as a challenge. But I don't think this would work for the completely clueless (me about six months ago :-S). Anyway.. this is a suggestion: First, your interface is brilliant. Don't change that much at all. I can see issues if you ever expand the categories of dishes in the top horizontal chooser. But other than that, the sliding tiles is most elegant and perfectly intuitive. But what if you also did this with video, as well as with dynamically updating content? For example, you could release a basic app for free. Then sell subscriptions to dynamic content like lessons with videos, or just more unique dishes people might want to learn.
