Love this app - great investment
I invested in a Sutro in 2024 before opening my pool in Arizona and I have been nothing but impressed by how the device works and how much time and money it saves me on both trips to the pool store and chemical costs. Thanks Sutro for a great product for me and my family!
Sutro won’t honor their warranty
Purchased a Sutro in October 2022 (~$450). Had numerous issues over the previous year, usually around getting new cartridges installed. Then in early August 2023 (10 months into a 12 month warranty), the device failed and I couldn’t get it to work. I also could not seem to get a response from their support team, which happens frequently when you try to reach them. So in early September when they charged me again I asked for a refund on that and the device itself. They then proceeded to string me along for 2 more months, repeatedly telling me they thought a new cartridge would fix it. I tried 3-4 new cartridges at their request the system always failed again after a day or two. When they asked me to try a fifth, I lost it. I demanded a refund on the device or a replacement so I could sell the refurb device to someone else and cancel their service entirely. They then never responded and of course had to badger them some more to get a response on this and they told me they decided not to honor the warranty because I said I was going to sell the replacement device. Say what?
Junk
Using Sutro requires far more effort to maintain my spa than the old manual way. This thing is junk. I have a pile of cartridges because it barely lasts 20 days and there is always some issue
P.o.s. Piece of Sutro
This thing hardly ever works. I have never, ever, in my life used a device that has had so many issues. If the hub hasn’t disconnects itself from the WiFi then the chemicals in the cartridge is bad, or just the cartridge itself is bad, or something happened to the cartridge when you tried to change it, or air bubbles somehow got into the system. If all those things haven’t occurred then get ready for all the issues with the app, it works correctly about 10% of the time. Unfortunately when this thing does work it takes all the guesswork out of balancing your chemicals. I just wish that was the norm. It is really like someone had a million dollar idea and only had $100 to develop it.
Never got the app to work
My unit is on its way at the time of writing this. They tell you to make an account and enter all your pool information in it. As I was adding the chemicals to the app it locked up. It’s been 4 days and I still can not log in. When I called support they said the server was being expanded and they were 90% complete. That was 4 days ago. When the item arrives I will be sending it back. The return policy is 14 days and has not been in the water, I won’t even be opening this. All the reviews on YouTube say it’s great, keep in mind they received the unit for free.
Nothing works after update to 1.79
After my app updated to 1.79, everything has stopped working correctly. The app showed a notification that the hub was disconnected, and I followed the steps to reconnect it multiple times with no luck. When I get to the point to connect to wifi, either the network doesn’t show up or the ‘Change WiFi’ page just shows up blank and the app freezes. For now, my hub and monitor are completely unusable since it’s also telling me calibration is needed after already going thru the process, getting all 3 green checks, and then a message saying calibration failed. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app. I’ve tried leaving the hub and monitor unpowered overnight. Ive verified 5 ghz disabled on network. I’ve reset our modem/router. No luck. I’ll also add I tried to use the new support feature of 1.79 and even that didn’t work. Fortunately, I had the Sutro support email saved, but have not heard back yet.
