App Needs LOTS of Work
This app needs lots of work. PROS: None beyond potential with updates to take into account users’ color and style preferences CONS: App didn’t identify key objects in room (multi-colored brick fireplace), app suggested three colors for each room that were garish and horrible, and app couldn’t figure out where walls ended and ceiling began creating a messy blob for how suggested colors would look in a room. App should give users the option to focus on items in photo since the current code is failing to properly do that basic job, and adding option for users to share their color preferences (ideally style as well) would help this app tremendously. The app is not helpful for anyone picking colors to paint before they move in (and thus has no personal belongings in photo) or who is going to make additional changes such as buy new art work/decor, furniture, or textiles such as bedding.
Very useful tool
This came in really handy when evaluating various rooms - it automatically identifies objects in the room and recommends different color pallets. After comparing, you can get samples from the app sent to you or evaluate against other popular colors
Glitchy, but otherwise great!
Love this app except for its IT issue. It gave me session timed out 3 times but charged me 3 times (?). Would be perfect after tech glitches are resolved
Color snap is better
Color snap is easier to navigate, is better at identifying what is/is not a wall, and is much more flexible than this app. The color selection and matching in color snap seems more accurate, will match anything in the photo, and allows to manually select colors in the photo as needed; this app will only color match things it can “identify” and there is not manually adjusting anything. If it can’t identify anything in the photo (e.g. if you use a photo of an empty room without the floor prominently visible) it just gives you an error message and does nothing. In the photos I tested, it failed to identify features like wood trims/railings/etc, a brick fireplace, and countertops. It not only won’t provide color suggestions based on the wood features, but ‘paints over’ them entirely. It wouldn’t color match the brick fireplace, and would give an error message for most photos where it was visible. It would attempt to identify and color match the countertop, but would then ‘paint over’ large portions of it. Can’t for the life of me understand why you wouldn’t add what this app is attempting to do as a feature in the existing color snap app instead of launching this as a separate, stand alone app. It’s not a bad idea but I’m not keeping two different Sherwin Williams color selecting/matching apps on my device and color snap is without question the more useful of the two.
UX Design Shortcomings
Keep the search icon perpetual (it should never disappear no matter which page of the app you’re in).
Amazing!!!
Love the personalized color recommendations! Really helped me pick out a color for my living room!
Great way to experiment with color!
Love this app - it’s so fun to play with different colors and actually see them on walls in my house. Will use this for every painting project in our home.
