This fit the bill perfectly and has a beautiful UI.” OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS: #1 BEST WORKOUT LOG APP (iOS) 2018 - Lifewire.com “When you open HeavySet you'll find most everything is made just to delight you. “Let's start with data entry. The buttons are just where they need to be and big enough not to miss even with shaking legs — or hands. What's more, you typically only have to tap once to log a set; HeavySet's smart predictions have already accomplished the, umm, heavy lifting.” IN-APP PURCHASE: HeavySet is a free download but you will need to make an in-app purchase upgrade to get access to unlimited use. As a non-paying user you are limited in the number of times you can perform the routines you input. Routines created by importing, duplicating or other automated methods are also not available. Non-paying users may improvise as many workouts as they like. The screenshots represent the app after the intermediate user level has been purchased. Hard to use
It’s very hard to navigate. Sorry
Best workout app for me
The generously sized controls and clear UI are great for using in a gym. Exporting workout data, backup, and importing programs via copy/paste from a text file is genius. Surprisingly deep feature set from a product maestro and who is also obviously a lifter. I’ve tried other apps but always come back to Heavyset. Heavyset is easy enough to use straight out of the tin, but it would be great if there were a place the community could make the programs they’ve added for others to use.
Warning
11/7/23: This app suddenly started to continuously crash. After reinstalling, my purchase no longer worked and I’m being forced to buy it again. The developer hasn’t even updated the app in a year. They are trying to force money from people without working on the app. Stay away.
Love the app but would like one addition
I am not sure if the developer still works on this or not, but it would be nice to have to ability to create a pyramid (or inverse pyramid) type set. For instance- say it’s arm day. Using a set of dumbbells you do one rep curl, one rep hammer curl, two reps curl, two reps hammer curl, three… up to five. That would be ONE set. Do three sets of the above for arm day
Slow updates but a workhorse
This app handles what you need done in the gym. Those muscles are to a minimum it focuses on good charts one rep max calculator and rest timers. Sure doesn’t have fancy graphs like other ones or life widgets but it gets the job done. Super easy to build routines. Super easy to add reps and weight.
Was good until they updated
Was good until they updated the app to pause the music every time you LOG a set. App is useless now because nobody works out without music. 1 star
Great lifting programs, clunky design
After using HS for 6 months, I’m switching back to paper. HS is great for providing access to very good complete programs, but there are are too many small usability bugs that make it frustrating to use. The most frustrating is that even with a good connection, data that’s input for a set regularly does not register and it needs to be entered again. This happens at least once for each workout and intern twice. This is caused by the approach to data caching and is not the fault of the connection. A nitpick, but the history should show the entire workout that a set was done in for it to be relevant. The target weight and and reps will be different depending on where an exercise is placed.
